“NCIS: New Orleans” alum and 14-year-old actress Venus Ariel is switching from police crime drama to superhero drama in her newest role.

Previously, Ariel appeared in seven episodes during seasons five and six of the hit CBS crime show. She played Naomi Porter, daughter of NCIS Special Agent Hannah Khoury and ex-husband Ryan Porter. This was Ariel’s second major role in her newly blossoming acting career.

And it won’t be her last. Already, the young star has been cast in the upcoming DC Comics TV miniseries “DMZ.” Helmed by director Ava DuVernay, the series takes place in war-torn America as it experiences its second civil war and remains cut off from the rest of the world.

According to Digital Spy, the official synopsis for the upcoming HBO Max series reads, “[DMZ] chronicles the harrowing journey of fearless and fierce medic Alma Ortega (Rosario Dawson) to find the son she lost in the evacuation of New York City at the onset of the conflict. Throwing gasoline on the flames of that conflict is Parco Delgado (Benjamin Bratt), the popular, and deadly, leader of one of the most powerful gangs in the DMZ. He wants to rule this new world and will stop at nothing to secure that outcome.

“The drama will examine the stark political and cultural divide in American society, where Alma must contend with the gangs, militias, demagogues, and warlords that control this lawless no man’s land. In doing so, she becomes the unlikely source of what everyone there has lost… hope.”

The “NCIS” alum will play Nico, a series regular who Digital Spy describes as, “a foul-mouthed scavenger with a hankering for mischief.”

‘NCIS: New Orleans’ Actress Joined By Powerhouse ‘Law & Order’ Alum Benjamin Bratt

Previously, Benjamin Bratt starred in the hit crime show “Law & Order” for 14 years. He played Detective Rey Curtis during seasons six through nine, coming back for one episode in season 20.

Since then, Bratt has starred in “Modern Family,” Disney’s “Coco,” and Marvel’s “Dr. Strange.” Like fellow Marvel actress Rosario Dawson, Bratt will soon switch to DC for its new miniseries.

He’ll join “NCIS” alum Venus Ariel on “DMZ” in a major role. According to IMDb, the show only has four episodes, and both Bratt and Ariel star in all of them. They’ll be joined by Dawson, Reynaldo Gallegos, Jordan Preston Carter, and Hoon Lee. The show is set to release some time later in 2021 on HBO Max.

Based on the synopsis, Bratt’s character is looking to exploit the explosive situation in the country. It’ll likely put him head-to-head with Dawson’s main character Alma, who’s trying to reunite with her lost son.
