Sometimes, losing your favorite show is like saying goodbye to a close friend. It can feel sad, lonely, and kind of personal. Unfortunately, shows getting canceled is anything but personal. It’s all a matter of ratings and numbers and cancellations happen all the time – often totally unexpectedly.
Nevertheless, fans are never happy when a cancellation occurs and “NCIS: New Orleans” fans are no different.
After the show announced that it would not be returning for another season, fans were heartbroken. In fact, some of them are still trying to figure out why the show was pulled. The fans recently shared their thoughts via a Reddit thread.
One fan wrote, “I might like it more than the original. I’m at the end of season four, and I’m as interested in it as during the Tony-Ziva seasons of the original. I love the Pride saga and how similar but also different from Gibbs he is.”
Another fan agreed. They wrote, “I liked NCIS NOLA too, and I was sad when it ended.”
One Reddit user was more angry than sad about “NCIS: New Orleans” ending: “I love both shows and I love Pride. I’m so angry they canceled that show. It was so good.”
Another fan compared the show to the other series in the “NCIS” franchise. They believe that the New Orleans backdrop trumped the others.
They wrote, “Love NOLA!! I don’t get why it gets trashed on so much. I’m currently trying to watch NCIS LA and I just can’t get into it with the same excitement that I’ve had with NCIS and NOLA.”
Why Was ‘NCIS: New Orleans’ Cancelled?
Although there haven’t really been any official explanations as to why “NCIS: New Orleans” won’t be returning, fans have their theories.
One fan may have a hunch as to why the show was cancelled. The fan said that a beloved character was “ripped” from the show and they were very unhappy about it. Perhaps fans tuned out of the show after that character was written off?
They wrote, “P.S. one of the beloved characters was RIPPED from the show and I hate them for it.”
Another fan said that one character was the reason they tuned into to watch the show every week.
“I totally agree. I’ve always loved NCIS but when it came to Pride I just loved the way he treated his agents,” they wrote. “I mean I love NCIS LA and Sam and Callens relationship but Pride remains my favorite and I don’t get why they’re canceling it above the others.”
We may never be able to fully explain exactly why “NCIS: New Orleans” was canceled. But we can certainly rewatch episodes and appreciate some of our favorite characters.
