The NCIS season 18 finale airs today. According to the episode description, “Bishop is implicated in an old NSA leak; Gibbs and Marcie discover the killer they’re tracking may be onto them.” The finale airs at 8/7 Central on CBS.

Finale to Show a Softer Side of Gibbs

According to producers, the finale will show a side of Agent Gibbs, played by Mark Harmon, that fans don’t often get to see. It sounds like Gibbs will face lots of action with investigative reporter Marcie Warren, played by his wife, Pam Dawber. However, Gibbs will have some softer moments too. For fans, this comes as a surprise as Gibbs has infamously struggled throughout the 18 seasons.

Executive producer Steve Binder said in a statement that ‘We’ll finally get to see Gibbs in unadulterated, pure and blissful happiness — something that has eluded him since we met him, but which we all agree is long overdue.”

When exactly amongst all the action fans will have time to see this side of Gibbs is unclear, but for many, this may provide a refreshing change of pace.

The NCIS episode will also potentially see some romance. This follows what Agent Torres perceived as a rejection from Agent Bishop. However, that conflict may be resolved, and Torres may learn that the “rejection” wasn’t what it seemed.

The episode will also find agent Bishop, played by Emily Wickersham, in trouble. During an investigation into an arms dealer, the team finds out that Bishop has been implicated in an NSA leak. They’ll also be joined by special agent Jessica Knight, played by Katrina Law. Fans speculate that Law could become a series regular.

This will be the last ‘NCIS’ Episode in the Tuesday Time Slot

After 18 seasons, NCIS will leave its traditional Tuesday evening timeslot for Mondays at 9 pm Eastern. It’ll act as a lead-in to NCIS: Hawai’i. NCIS: Hawai’i will air its first season during the 2021-2022 broadcast season. It’s the third spinoff in the NCIS franchise. NCIS: Los Angeles is going into its thirteenth season. NCIS: New Orleans was canceled this year, ending on its seventh season.

For those who have highly anticipated the upcoming NCIS finale, you won’t have to wait much longer. Just remember that when the show comes back, it won’t be on Tuesday nights anymore. Other factors like how much Katrina Law will be on the show and how much Mark Harmon will feature remain undetermined, but it’s safe to say that NCIS is still going strong.
