‘NCIS’ Star Rocky Carroll Opens Up About How He Got Into Acting To Begin With
While chatting with The Huffington Post in 2009, NCIS castmate Rocky Carroll recalled how he got into acting, to begin with. “I think it has more to do with location than anything else,” Carroll explained. He also noted that he grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio and in 1974, the Board of Education set up a performing school.
“It was in walking distance from my school,” the NCIS star continued. “So the art teacher at the elementary school that I was already going to said, ‘You’re a class clown. You’re always getting in trouble for being obnoxious. So audition for this school.’ That’s literally, how it happened.”
Carroll then spoke about his experience in Shakespeare shows. He revealed which role is his favorite. “I think Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet would be my favorite role. I’ve never played it. But I would love to do it.”
The NCIS star goes on to state that he has been very fortunate with his acting career. He believes the primary difference between stage and screen is it’s very easy to adapt a persona or to be labeled a comedic actor or dramatic actor in the film world.
“Actors on stage, you can go from playing a myriad of roles, from Shakespeare to a Eugene O’Neil drama. And it’s the norm.”
