A couple of years ago, NCIS actor Wilmer Valderrama shared that he has a specific hand gesture he makes when being photographed as a shoutout to his fans.
In 2019, Valderrama spoke with Men’s Health where he responded to comments and questions on social media. The actor has built quite the fanbase dating back to his time on That ’70s Show in the early 2000s. Since then, he’s gone on to star in numerous films and television shows.
One fan obviously follows the actor’s life and career fairly closely. Valderrama has almost two million Instagram followers, and in some of his posts he can be seen making the same hand gesture.
“What’s with that hand gesture?!!!?” the fan asked Valderrama.
“You wouldn’t understand,” the NCIS star joked at first before expanding on his answer.
“So the gesture is, it’s a call to the wolf pack,” Valderrama explained to Men’s Health. “Since I was really young, I’ve loved wolves. And all my fans call themselves the Wolfettes. So this (makes gesture) is a shoutout to my fans. So if you know, you know.”

Back in November 2020, the NCIS actor took part in another similar interview. This time though, he was taking questions from fans about the hit show. Valderrama opened up during an Instagram Live session that marked NCIS‘s 400th Episode.
The actor and his co-star Emily Wickersham both surprised fans as part of the celebrations for the milestone episode. The two actors randomly chose questions that Instagram users sent in during the live feed. The pair picked a handful and shared some insight into the NCIS cast, the show’s filming process, and much more. One fan on Instagram that tuned in to the chat asked Valderrama about his favorite episode since he’s been on the show.
The actor said there are lots of fantastic episodes, so he didn’t pick just one in particular. However, Valderrama did pinpoint what episodes he enjoys filming the most. Typically he prefers episodes that are filmed with the whole cast together. The actor says he loves the energy on set when everyone is involved in the filming process.
In addition, Valderrama specified what scenes are his favorite to shoot. It turns out he’s a bit of an adrenaline junkie, so his favorites revolve around NCIS‘s action scenes.
“Anything that has to do with action, that’s my favorite thing,” Valderrama explained. “Like when we blew up that garage, and I could smell my hair burning off my face, yea that was good times. Every time I chase somebody and try not to pull a hamstring, that’s definitely a favorite episode of mine.”
