Just a couple more days, NCIS fans — we can do this. The show will make its return from a break on Monday, November 29.
Both NCIS and NCIS: Hawai’i have been bringing the action for CBS on Monday nights this fall. NCIS made the switch to the Monday time slot before the season started. And, of course, NCIS: Hawai’i made its highly anticipated debut back in September. The ratings for both shows have been great so far. The only downfall has been the fact that both headed into a break before the midseason hiatus in December.
But enough about all of that. We now know that both series will be returning on Monday night. NCIS will air on CBS at 9 p.m. Eastern, 8 p.m. Central. Meanwhile, NCIS: Hawai’i will air an hour later at 10 p.m. Eastern, 9 p.m. Central.
On Friday afternoon, the official NCIS Instagram account posted an update for fans around the world.
“It’s time to get back to business. Don’t miss an all new episode of #NCIS, Monday at 9/8c”
‘NCIS’ Fans Want Special Agent Gibbs Back in the Mix
Obviously, we are all excited that NCIS and NCIS: Hawai’i are returning on Monday night. But that doesn’t change the fact that the former will be returning without Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs.
You don’t have to be a diehard fan of the show to know that Mark Harmon starred as Special Agent Gibbs. Even if you just surfed through the channels on your television once or twice there is a solid chance you’ve seen his face on CBS. Harmon has played the lead role of Gibbs on NCIS for an astounding 18 years.
But in a recent episode of the show titled, “Great Wide Open”, Gibbs made the decision to stay back in Alaska instead of rejoining his team. He has finally found peace in the wake of his family’s death. As a result, the military crime drama aired the next episode, its first-ever episode without Harmon.
There’s no denying that Harmon’s character became one of the most iconic and memorable on all of the television over the years. That has made it hard for longtime fans of the show to let go of the beloved character.
“I want Gibbs back….” one fan said on Instagram.
“NCIS is not the same and will not be,” commented another person. “I miss Gibbs, Tony, Ziva, and Abby. Can’t watch it my heart is too broken.”
“Soooo why don’t you [get back to business]??!!! Need to get your act together. This guy is not Mark Harmon who is NCIS and the only reason NCIS lasted 18 seasons.”
