Nicolas Cage is set to star in a new Western called Butcher’s Crossing. And we are totally getting Leonardo DiCaprio in The Revenant vibes from the film’s first look.

We already know that Nicolas Cage is familiar with playing larger-than-life characters. He has starred in movies like National Treasure, Mandy, and the 2006 remake of The Wicker Man. And now, he is going to star in Butcher’s Crossing. Deadline was the first outlet to give fans a look at the new film.

According to the report, the movie is being directed by Gabe Polsky and production has already begun out in Montana. Of course, it will feature Nicolas Cage, who fans will get to see in yet another fun role. This time around, Cage will be playing a buffalo hunter named Miller.

Bald Nic Cage?

You can take a look at the photo down below posted by the Discussing Film Twitter account. Can you see why we are getting DiCaprio vibes from his role in The Revenant?

We see a bald, Nicolas Cage with a beard who is wearing heavy western style pelts. C’mon, it looks like he was destined to be cast in The Revenant! It also looks like there may be a scar on his left cheek. We can assume that Cage’s character has been doing a lot of fighting, hunting, or getting into other dangerous encounters.

“First look at Nicolas Cage as a buffalo hunter in his next film ‘BUTCHER’S CROSSING’,” Discussing Film wrote alongside the photo.

The movie is based on a novel written by John Williams. It also goes by the same title, Butcher’s Crossing.

The outlet’s synopsis of the film says, “The story is about a young Harvard dropout who seeks his destiny out West by tying his fate to a team of buffalo hunters led by Miller. Together, they embark on a harrowing journey risking life and sanity. The title refers to the small Kansas town where the two intersect in the novel’s story, which is set in the 1870s.”

“Are we sure this is a new look for a new movie, and he hasn’t just been living in the woods?” another fan asked.

And finally, another fellow Twitter user made the following joke: “My therapist: bald Nic Cage isn’t real, he can’t hurt you. Bald Nic Cage: …”
