One of the most popular shows currently on television, “Ozark,” a Netflix original series, is slated to return in 2022.
While some “Ozark” fans are dreading the wait, others are enjoying the build to what should be a glorious final season. Since its premiere season a couple of years ago, “Ozark” has been a smash hit, becoming one of Netflix’s most-watched shows.
A tremendous cast, headed up by actor Jason Bateman, has been one of the show’s biggest assets. But it is the show’s tremendous story-telling capabilities that really make it shine. Bateman plays an ordinary accountant who launders big bucks for a Mexican drug cartel. “Ozark” details the struggle of Bateman’s character to protect his family while he tiptoes among vicious killers.
We now have our first look at the fourth and final season of “Ozark” as Netflix dropped a teaser trailer earlier this weekend. The teaser trailer is vintage “Ozark” and, oh man, is it a tasty treat for fans of the Netflix streamer. It was actually Bateman who revealed the trailer at a Netflix event on Saturday. The brief trailer picks up right where the third season left off after a shocking turn of events left a primary character dead.
‘Ozark’ Trailer Teases First Moments of Season Four
The trailer starts off with a party-like atmosphere as cartel boss Navarro hosts his son’s baptism. Marty (Bateman) and Wendy (Laura Linney) are in the bathroom washing the blood from their faces and clothing. They’ve just witnessed the execution of their former partner right in front of them and are understandably in a great deal of shock. Season three concludes with Navarro hugging Marty and Wendy — telling them “Today is a beginning.”
“Ozark” showrunner Chris Mundy previously discussed what possibilities might exist for the fourth season. He says the final season could come down to the decisions of Ruth Langmore and the Byrde family.
“If we’re lucky enough to get a season 4, I think it will be about whether or not Ruth really can create something of her own that she wants and is sustainable, or if she wants something else,” he said. “And I think it will be about if the Byrdes can they turn the biggest mistake of their lives into this huge advantage, and how much will karma catch up with them if they do?”
The Byrde family will have some tough decisions to make in the upcoming brand new season four of “Ozark.” It isn’t anything news to the Byrdes as much of the show’s plot revolves around the family’s penchant for getting into and then out of trouble.
Now, under the microscope more than ever the family will have to regroup and come up with a new plan to combat their enemies. Retreating to “Ozarks” worked once before — will it work again?
