‘Pioneer Woman’ Ree Drummond and Husband Ladd Get ‘Weirdly Competitive’ in Funny New Vacation Video

by Chris Haney

On Monday night, “Pioneer Woman” Ree Drummond shared a hilarious video of herself and her husband racing up a flight of stairs.

Ree and her husband, Ladd Drummond, live on a working ranch outside of Pawhuska, Oklahoma. The couple shares four children together amongst their busy lifestyle. There’s always plenty of work to be done on the ranch. And that’s not even including Ree’s “Pioneer Woman” empire.

The Food Network star has her own cooking show, and is a blogger, author, food writer, and photographer. In addition, the family has a brick-and-mortar store in Pawhuska called The Pioneer Woman Mercantile. Therefore it should come as no surprise that the Drummonds are often busy as can be. However, Ree and her husband made sure to take some time off recently and get away from the rat race.

The couple recently vacationed in Vail, Colorado together. While on vacation, Ree posted a self-shot clip of herself racing Ladd up a flight of stairs and then explained why.

“Ladd and I are weirdly competitive,” she wrote. “Not with anything that matters, but definitely with dumb things like racing each other up a random flight of stairs while on vacation. Usually I have no hope of beating him unless I decide to start the race without informing him that there is a race. Today he was nice enough to open the door for me and I used it as my chance to get a head start. Check out how quickly he reacted, it’s almost like a reflex. Anyway, none of this was a good idea at 8,155 feet. I’m pretty sure I won, not that it matters since I am now dead. Bye.

‘Pioneer Woman’ Opens Up on Stress of Balancing Her Career With Her Life

Like we mentioned before, Ree Drummond is one busy woman. And that can make it difficult to balance one’s personal life with their career at times. The mother of four opened up about juggling the two in a 2017 interview with Design & Living.

As a cook show host on her own program Pioneer Woman, plus her other many ventures, Drummond rarely slows down. The humble celebrity doesn’t complain though and often counts her blessings since she knows how lucky she is. Yet she’s not immune to facing the difficult task of finding the perfect work-life balance. While she often takes it all in stride, she shared with the publication that it can be tough at times.

“It’s hard. I do the things that I really enjoy,” Drummond said to Design & Living. “I get a lot done when I love doing it. There are so many things that people are chasing me on a daily basis, and there are lots of loose ends.”

Since she’s so busy, and she’s got to sleep at some point, Drummond often has to leave some tasks unfinished each day. That’s something she had to get used to, and didn’t happen overnight.

“I just became okay with going to bed at night and not having everything done. My dad used to tease me that I only did what was fun and it’s kind of true still,” the Pioneer Woman shared.
