With August settling in and giving way to the last hints of that deep summer heat, Food Network’s busy host and chef Ree Drummond offered her insights to Imbibe Magazine about her go-to drinks, including a favorite light wine spritzer.
“I’m definitely a wine person,” Drummond told Imbibe. “I love white wine year round, and one of the things that reminds me of my mom, is a white wine spritzer – basically white wine, really cold club soda, usually lemon or lime, and that’s it. That way you can get away with having a couple glasses. And then, of course, I want to drink red wine when we’re having a winter roast or some kind of big holiday.”
‘The Pioneer Woman’ Ree Drummond Also Loves Coffee
The multi-talented Ree Drummond not only detailed her love of wine around each season, but re-emphasized her love of coffee, both in drink and recipe, citing that chocolate and coffee pair extremely well, and even offering a decadent winter drink with coffee, whiskey and dulce de leche.
“The thing to me about coffee is that there’s not much it doesn’t go with. Typically, I’ll add my coffee to my chocolate recipes, whether it’s brownies or this really easy pot du crème I make in the blender where coffee is the main ingredient,” Drummond told Imbibe.
From her beginnings as a writer and blogger, Ree Drummond has amped up her career with several cookbooks and a TV show, explaining that cooking in front of a camera gives her dimension in an otherwise lacking environment.
“When I started the show, I wasn’t really sure if I’d translate to TV, since I’m more comfortable in my blogging realm where I can pause, and TV moves so fast,” Drummond explained. “On the other hand, the thing I really love about TV is that it shows more dimension. And it shows my kids and life on the ranch.”
As the days shift from long, hot summer evenings with lazy gatherings and cool drinks, Drummond reiterates how food and family will tie her together as the holiday season approaches.
“I’ve had a really busy year…so all I want is to be able to stay in my yoga pants, eat cinnamon rolls, drink dulce de leche coffee and relax. Nothing tangible – just lots of time with my family,” Ree Drummond said.
