“Pioneer Woman” Ree Drummond‘s nephew is facing legal trouble. Authorities are officially charging him with a DUI after being arrested.

Authorities arrested Drummond’s nephew, Caleb, back on April 17th. They picked him up on suspicion of a DWI. Well, now those charges are official. Police have charged him with a misdemeanor for driving while impaired and having an open alcohol container in the vehicle.

Police responded to a call at five in the morning. Drummond’s nephew had been parked in his truck at a traffic stop in Osage County, Oklahoma. When police arrived, Caleb reportedly had been asleep from behind the wheel. According to TMZ, officers noticed an “overwhelming” smell of alcohol in the vehicle. Additionally, Caleb fell asleep with the vehicle still in drive and his foot on the brake.

Drummond’s nephew failed a sobriety test, having a BAC of 0.05. Additionally, police found a beer in the car and a loaded 9mm handgun as well. But authorities decided not to press forward with a weapon’s charge. Reportedly, Caleb had both “slurred speech” and struggled to follow basic commands. He gave responding officers a credit card instead of his licenses. He also allegedly told officers, “I know I shouldn’t have been driving,” and “I’m glad I wasn’t caught a few hours ago.”

‘Pioneer Woman’ Creator’s Nephew Gets in Crash

The “Pioneer Woman” creator’s nephew has been in a bit of trouble as of late. Caleb’s arrest and subsequent charge came just a short time after a serious car crash. Both Caleb and Drummond’s husband, Ladd, wound up in a gnarly car crash on their property. The two had been two different firetrucks combating a wildfire. But both men wound up crashing into each other head-on.

“Ladd was stiff but able to walk around immediately after the accident, so he refused medical attention. This was partly because he wanted the paramedics to focus on Caleb, partly because he was still a little stunned by the accident, and partly because cowboys don’t like to admit when they’re hurt,” Drummond wrote at the time.

As a result of the crash, Caleb ended up being pretty banged up. He broke a few ribs and had a concussion as well. Caleb’s altercation and DUI come just a month after the crash, which caused Ladd to break his neck.

“I won’t take you through every step of the past several days, but here’s the important part: Caleb and Ladd are going to be okay,” Drummond continued. “Caleb broke some ribs, had a pretty bad concussion, and a few other injuries that will heal. Ladd (the guy I told you about who drove himself to the hospital?) broke his neck in two places—and evidently, one of the two fractures was very close to being catastrophic. Have I mentioned cowboys don’t like to admit when they’re hurt?”
