Priscilla Presley: Here’s Why She Left ‘Dallas’ After 5 Seasons

by Emily Morgan

While Priscilla Presley may be known as Elvis Presley’s wife, she also had a successful Hollywood career.

She played Jenna Wade’s role on the long-running television series “Dallas” from 1983 to 1988.

Morgan Fairchild initially portrayed the fictional character, Jenna Wade, for one episode in 1978. Francine Tacker played the role for two episodes in 1980.

When the show brought the character back in 1983, the part was recast for the second time. This time Presley would become the third and final actress to portray the character, starring in the role for five seasons.

Before her debut, Presley described the character. “Jenna is her own woman. She’s extremely self-reliant, she has lived in Europe and has a child. Just like me. Except that she’s a bit more sophisticated than me. She has a lot of integrity, she’s totally honest. I like her. How could I help but identify with her?

After five years, Presley left the show after becoming unhappy with the direction of the series and her character.

During her days as an actress, Presley had a starring role as Jane Spencer in the three successful Naked Gun films, in which she co-starred with Leslie Nielsen.

Priscilla Presley Turned Down Role To Be In Hit Series: ‘Charlie’s Angels’

Towards the end of her marriage with Elvis, Priscilla began her pursuit into her acting career.

After Elvis passed away, she started seriously working as an actress.

The directors even offered Presley one of the earliest leading roles on the classic hit series, “Charlie’s Angels,” but turned the role down due to a lack of interest.

From 1976 to 1981, the series was highly successful and has now become a household name.

One might assume Presley would have regrets for turning down the role, but in an interview, a source close to Presley revealed her reasoning behind the decision.

“At the time she didn’t like the concept of the series. She didn’t mind when it finally came out, and she loves the girls they hired. But it wasn’t right for her. She has no regrets,” said the source.

Even though she turned down the opportunity, she’s still managed to have a successful career on the big screen.

She’s starred in over a dozen films and television shows throughout her career, making a name for herself in the entertainment industry.
