Priscilla Presley Is a Very Successful Business Woman

Many people, when they think of Priscilla Presley, think “actress” or “wife of Elvis.” But Priscilla is so much more than that. In fact, if it wasn’t for her, trips to Graceland wouldn’t be possible today.

The upkeep for Graceland cost $500,000 a year. And after Elvis’s death in 1977, the expenses had dwindled Lisa Marie’s (Priscilla and Elvis’s daughter) to $1 million. Additionally, taxes due on the property and other expenses totaled over $500,000. So, Priscilla had two choices: She could sell Graceland, or she could figure something out.

She chose the latter and started looking into other famous homes turned museums. She hired a CEO to turn Graceland into a tourist attraction. And after only four weeks of being open, Graceland made back all the money it had invested. Graceland is now considered one of the U.S’s top tourist attractions. Priscilla became the chairwoman and president of Elvis Presley Enterprises (EPE). Under Priscilla’s guidance, the family’s estate and fortunes are now well over $100 million.
