Red Hot Chili Peppers Announce World Tour With Star-Studded List of Opening Acts

by Clayton Edwards

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have been busy. They recently put their entire catalog up for sale. In September, they announced that they would kick off a world tour in June 2022. That, in and of itself was exciting news for RHCP fans. However, they made things better by announcing that they’d be traveling the world with guitarist John Frusciante. They haven’t toured with Frusciante, arguably one of the world’s greatest rock guitarists, in over 15 years. That alone assures that the upcoming tour will be one to remember. Today, they sweetened the deal.

The initial tour announcement was hilarious

Earlier today, Stereogum reported that Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced their tour mates and dates. The list of acts they have opening for them on the upcoming tour proves just how huge they are as a band.

However, Red Hot Chili Peppers won’t have the same opening act for each show. Instead, each show will feature two openers. Unsurprisingly, most of their opening acts are A-listers. The rest have massive cult followings. Again, it’s going to be a killer tour. RHCP’s list of opening acts includes The Strokes, St. Vincent, HAIM, Beck, Anderson .Paak & the Free Nationals, A$AP Rocky, Thundercat, and King Princess.

Could this Mean New Music from Red Hot Chili Peppers?

Red Hot Chili Peppers haven’t announced or released any new music lately. However, it wouldn’t be surprising. After all, most bands tour to support new music. Additionally, RHCP’s last album, The Getaway, dropped in 2016. Before that, they set a pace of about 3-5 years between albums. So, it seems like it is about time for a new RHCP record.

John Frusciante’s last album with RHCP was 2006’s Stadium Arcadium. So, it would be nice to hear him on a new record. Many fans believe that Frusciante’s guitar work is the secret sauce that makes the band sound so good.
