Ron Howard Reveals Adorable Childhood Photo of Himself, Brother Clint Howard with Message About Upcoming Memoir

by Matthew Memrick

Actor and director Ron Howard teased his memoir with his brother Clint Howard recently. The Howards wrote a book and Ron Howard tweeted out an early childhood photo of the two recently.

“Clint and I have a lot to get off of our chests,” Ron Howard tweeted Sunday. “… And my back. I can’t wait to share with you the memoir we have written together, THE BOYS, out from @WmMorrowBooks  on October 12.

“The Boys: A Memoir of Hollywood and Family” tells the story of the Howard brothers. The men talk about their upbringing by actor dad Rance and actress mom Jean Howard. The parents uprooted the family from Oklahoma, took Ron to Hollywood in 1958. Clint was born a year later.

Both men became child actors. Ron Howard, 67, was on “The Andy Griffith Show” and “Happy Days.” Clint Howard appeared on “Gentle Ben” and “Star Trek.” Both men went on to long careers both in front and behind the camera and came together to share their unique experiences for the book memoir.

Ron Howard will likely revisit his life as a childhood actor and learning. Though he was a great actor, he told the Academy of Achievement that he struggled to relate to kids his age. He said his “Andy Griffith Show” role made him into an actor who made personal appearances. For example, he said he felt like he was at everyone’s disposal at school.

Clint Howard Opens Up About Book

On July 22, Clint Howard Tweeted the book was “Just us Howard boys paying homage to our parents unique, valuable, and dream captured lives.”

According to the Associated Press, Clint Howard said the brothers enjoyed working on the book together, saying, “Mom and dad’s teachings are treasures to this day, but I’ve realized that I took their presence for granted. Writing The Boys with my brother has been the topper of a wonderful lifetime.”

Both men take turns writing about their lives. In a USA Today story, Ron Howard said the brothers began to reflect on their not-so-normal lives after dad Rance died in 2017.
