Roseanne Barr Announces Birth of Granddaughter, Reveals Adorable First Photo

by Suzanne Halliburton

Congratulations to Roseanne Barr and her family. The comedian and actor has a new granddaughter.

Barr announced the birth of the baby via Instagram, posting: “New g dotter.”

She didn’t reveal any other details, including the cute little girl’s name or when, exactly, she was born. Maybe it’s a nod to her new Granny. The baby was wrapped in a blanket dotted with roses.

Roseanne Barr doesn’t post much on social media anymore. She lost a show on ABC because of some controversial tweets three years ago. Barr hasn’t posted on Twitter since December. She uses her Instagram to post benign photos of herself in a variety of outfits.

There was one last week. She was showing off some black leather, a frilly skirt and some funky shades. Barr wrote: “Finally found the perfect leather jacket after 68 years.”

So when fans saw a photo of Barr’s new grandbaby, they reacted in a big, positive way. The photo sported more than 17,000 likes.

Barr Has Big Family, With Five Kids

This is the seventh grandchild for Roseanne Barr. She talked about her grandkids three years ago when she was doing publicity for the revival of Roseanne. Having the grandkids, she said, made her life better.

“I have six grandkids,” Roseanne Barr told Extra in 2018. “That’s what changed the most in my life. You’ve got to be pushier to your kids and make sure they do right by their kids, so it kind of gives you an excuse to be a big b**ch that you’ve always wanted to be.”

Barr announced the birth of another grandchild in 2018, days before the new Roseanne was set to premiere.

Coincidentally, Barr’s youngest son, Buck, took over the comedian’s Twitter account March 27, 2018, the night the show went live.

Roseanne Barr has five children. In May 1971, Barr gave birth to a daughter and put her up for adoption. Barr was only 18. She wrote a note for the little girl and planned to give it to her when her daughter turned 21. But her plans were accelerated when a tabloid learned she had given up a child and threatened to report the news. Barr, using a private investigator, tracked down her daughter. The two met at a hotel in Los Angeles.

“I turned around and felt this powerful magnet,” Barr said. “We looked at each other. Brandi jumped out of her seat. And we started running toward each other. We embraced and wouldn’t let go of each other, hugging and crying.”

Roseanne Barr married her first husband in 1974. She and Bill Pentland had three children together — Jessica, Jennifer, and Jake. Bill was a U.S. Postal Service worker when they married. He eventually wrote some of the scripts for her standup act.

Barr had no children with her second husband, actor Tom Arnold.

She married Ben Thomas, who worked in her security detail, in 1995. He’s Buck’s dad. Roseanne used IVF to get pregnant with Buck.

Roseanne Barr now lives in Hawaii with her long-time boyfriend Johnny Argent. She’s said before that her grandchildren live there, as well.
