Sam Elliott: What is Legendary Actor’s Net Worth?

by Joe Rutland

Actor Sam Elliott is good at picking roles for films like “The Big Lebowski” where he’s not going to be forgotten. He’s done well financially and built a following alongside it.

At this time, his total net worth is $12 million. But he’s not resting on his laurels. Neither is his wife, actress Katherine Ross.

Before amassing that wealth, Elliott had to take a proverbial long and winding road through numerous guest-starring roles on TV to get into movies. Elliott, who was born in California, has parents who originally are from El Paso, Texas.

His success built up from getting spot work on 1960s and 1970s TV series like “Mannix,” “The Streets of San Francisco,” and “The Mod Squad.”

Sam Elliott Hit Movie Screen For First Time In Partial Role

But he cracked into the movie world with a bit role in a major movie hit called “Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid,” which starred Robert Redford and Paul Newman. Elliott’s role was listed as “Card Player No. 2” in the movie’s credits.

Yes, it was a small role but it would truly help Elliott gain traction as a movie actor.

His work has brought a lot of attention his way. Consider this list: Two Academy Award nominations, two Golden Globe Award nominations, two Primetime Emmy Award nominations, and two Screen Actors Guild Award nominations.

Elliott’s personal life has been focused around his long marriage to Ross. She happened to also be one of the main stars in “Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid,” the movie that Sam Elliott had one small role. While they didn’t meet on that set, they did end up meeting while filming “The Legacy” in London.

Elliott and Ross were married in 1984 and they’ve been together ever since. They have a home in Malibu, Calif., and some ranchland area in the Willamette Valley area in Oregon.

Elliott Daughter Focuses On Career As A Musician

Now Elliott and Ross have a daughter, Cleo Rose Elliott, who was born on Sept. 17, 1984, in Malibu

Yes, the young girl knew about her parents’ acting careers. But they simply wanted her to find something that brought her passion and joy.

She did find her path through the power of music. Cleo Elliott learned to play the flute and guitar. Her background is in classical music, but eventually found her way musically with a solo album called “No More Lies” in January 2008.

Elliott said her parents, once they heard that she chose music over acting, were very happy by her choice.

Besides having a successful music career, she’s also worked as a model.

Life for Sam Elliott is good these days. It will only get better as his roles continue to grow.
