Shania Twain has been keeping busy during her coronavirus quarantine.
The country singer had to abandon her 2020 Let’s Go! Las Vegas residency due to social distancing rules that prevent fans from massing in large groups, Taste of Country reported.
But there’s been an upside to Twain’s enforced isolation from her fans. She has written a truckload of new music.
“I mean, I’ve got a mountain of songs now,” Twain announced during a recent appearance on the ABC show Live With Kelly and Ryan. “I just keep writing and writing and writing and writing. Yeah, it’s good. I have been very productive, yeah.”
Still, she hasn’t given up on the Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood’s Zappos Theater. For now, she’s in limbo.
“Well, I’m waiting to get back to Vegas onstage at Zappos,” she adds. “I’ve been waiting like everybody else for the ‘okay’ to get back in the room, you know? So, I’m on standby, and writing music.”
Twain has also been keeping up her media appearances during the pandemic. She’s preparing for the 25thanniversary of the release of her album “The Woman In Me.” The album, her second, won a Grammy and became the top-selling record by a woman in country music up to that point.
To celebrate the occasion, Twain is releasing a deluxe reissue that features remastered versions, remixes, live versions and early recordings of the songs on the album.
“I was a poor kid and then a struggling artist all of those years until this finally happened,” Twain told the Associated Press. “It was life changing for me and career changing as well.”
And Twain is still doing her podcast, the Home Now Radio Show. On Wednesday, she released a new episode of the podcast.
In it, she gushed over Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Nick Jonas and Harry Styles. She also mentioned Janelle Monae and Justin Timberlake.
“I’ve known her dad from the very beginning when we were both first starting out as newly signed recording artists in Nashville,” Twain said about Miley Cyrus’s father, Billy Ray. “Anyway, to make a long story short, I can’t believe that this little girl who just came out of nowhere, to watch somebody grow to something so great. All of a sudden, here she is.”
