Legendary illusionist Siegfried Fischbacher lost his long battle with cancer. His sister, a nun living in Munich reported his passing to German news agency DPA. He was the last surviving member of the iconic illusionist duo Siegfried and Roy.

The legendary magician passed away peacefully in his Las Vegas home. According to his sister, she was able to speak with him on the phone just before he died. They prayed together and she was able to tell him that she would always carry him in her heart.

After their call, he fell asleep and passed away. His death comes just eight months after his longtime partner Roy Wood died due to complications related to COVID-19.

For years, Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Wood were fixtures in Las Vegas. Their illusions and more importantly their spectacular white tigers thrilled millions of people. They were one of the highest-grossing acts on the Las Vegas strip for over a decade.

The duo got their start together while Siegfried was performing on a cruise ship. After asking Roy to assist him during an act, the two started working together regularly. The pair was reportedly fired from that gig when they brought a live cheetah aboard the ship. This would lay the groundwork for what their show would come to be in the future.

Siegfried’s passing marks a true end of an era for magicians and showmen in general.
