“I ain’t watching this show no more,” one fan tweeted. “What happened to Frank is wrong.”
Another person said the behind-the-scenes drama was ruining American Pickers.
“@History What are y’all thinking, moving on filming w/out @FritzPicker. There is NO SHOW w/out Frank. One of last good cable shows on T.V but turning #Cutthroat & drama fueled like #KeepnUpWithTheKardashians! #Dirty move to @AmericanPicker, You know it 2. Audacity!”
Another fan said that American Pickers wasn’t the same without the banter of Mike and Frank.
“No Frank? It’s not American Pickers. It takes both to have that show. It’s clearly not the same show without him and not as good which can only mean 1 thing in the near future. Not good!!”
But Mike has his supporters as well. One of the most notable is co-star and friend Danielle Colby. Colby called their relationship “happily dysfunctional” in an interview with Freshly Inked. in 2019. However, she rushed to his defense after news broke that History Channel had fired Frank Fritz.
“Out on the road again with my best friend and my big brother whose I support fully and stand behind,” she said in a recent Instagram post. “Thank you for the last decade of advocacy towards myself and others on set.”
Colby Also Misses Frank on ‘American Pickers’
Later in the same Instagram post, Colby said she was also sad to see Frank Fritz leave American Pickers.
“I’m truly saddened for the loss of Frank on the show,” Danielle Colby continued. “I’m incredibly sad for his struggles. I’ve personally watched everything over the last decade. I have many thoughts but won’t speak them as they are only my thoughts, not gospel. I wish things could have been different but we must be accountable for our actions when we cause instability or pain and suffering to others. Frank caused so much pain for himself that it has been hard to watch. I truly hope Frank receives all the help he needs to become well after years of being unwell.”
Fritz admitted to attending rehab for his alcohol addiction and has lost 65 pounds since his last appearance on American Pickers, which aired in March 2020. However, he seems content burning his bridges with his former friend and costar Mike Wolfe.
Fritz called out Wolfe for his statement in an Instagram post announcing Fritz was off of the show.
“I will miss Frank, just like all of you, and I pray for the very best and all good things for him on the next part of his journey,” Wolfe said.
Fritz said the response was disingenuous and self-serving.
