Four episodes of “Southern Charm” are no longer available on-demand. The Bravo channel pulled the episodes due to racially charged moments.

The show, which premiered in 2014, follows the lives of socialites in Charleston, South Carolina. TikTok user @thetalkofshame first brought the controversial scenes to the attention of social media. “Did #Bravo think we wouldn’t notice the missing #SouthernCharm episodes? #bravotv,” she captioned the video.

In Season 1, Episode 2, one of the racially charged scene features former cast member Thomas Ravenel at lunch with his father, ex-Congressman Arthur Ravenl Jr. While dining together, Arthur tells Thomas he likes to get rid of $5 bills because Abraham Lincoln is on them. He then smirks at the camera.

“This was aired! Primetime! Bravo!” @thetalkofshame says. The following day, Bravo’s VOD services then pulled several more episodes. The network temporarily removed the season premiere episodes from season 3, season 4, and season 4 episode 8.

A Bravo spokesperson later confirmed to Variety that the network was in the process of reviewing past content for racially insensitive scenes. Aside from the season 3 premiere, Bravo re-uploaded all of the episodes previously removed.

In the season 3 premiere, cast member Kathryn Dennis gives a tour of her family’s plantation. Bravo plans to remove the scene permanently.

“Is it the casual reference to you living on a plantation on top of a slave cemetery, before you sit down to drink mint juleps with your friend?” @thetalkofshame said. “Is it that every plantation really is just a giant slave cemetery?”

“Southern Charm” and Other Shows at Bravo Under Review

“Southern Charm” is one of many shows under review at Bravo. Earlier this summer, the network first took action firing several “Vanderpump Rules” cast members. Bravo fired Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute, Max Boyens, and Brett Caproni for past racially insensitive remarks.

Furthermore, Bravo cut ties with Peter Hunziker of “Below Deck Mediterranean” for an offensive Instagram post.
