The Pittsburgh Steelers are taking a bold stance for social justice on Monday Night Football. The players held up a massive sign that reads “Steelers Against Racism” during the playing of the National Anthem.

The official Twitter account for the team posted a photo of the banner with the caption, “We stand together against racism.”

The giant poster includes the hometowns of each of the Steelers’ players on the border of the sign. Seen in a photo posted by the team, many players chose to stand for the Anthem including those holding the sign.

On Monday night’s game, the Steelers are facing off against the New York Giants. Roughly one-third of the Giants chose to take a knee during the anthem, TMZ reports.

Pittsburgh Steelers Players Speak Out Before Monday’s Game

Wide receiver Steven Nelson revealed that the team made plans to speak out during the anthem on Saturday. He said the team hoped to come out “as one unit” and express their feelings towards social justice in the country, SI.com reports.

While the team is making waves with its massive sign this Monday night, earlier this summer defensive end Stephon Tuitt caused a splash on social media with his stance on the NFL kneeling controversy. Tuitt took to Instagram to share his thoughts on the issue.

“I stand for the flag because I am a proud American,” Tuitt wrote. “Like previously stated, this country has provided and rewarded my family in so many ways through our perseverance and hard work. I will continue to honor my country and be an example to my children to stand for what they believe in.”

Since the NFL season kicked off on Thursday night, teams have demonstrated in a number of ways. For example, multiple teams locked arms and paused together for a “moment of unity.” Learn how all the teams handled the National Anthem here.
