Don’t you love how Steve-O refers to the stunts as too dangerous to show audiences? Not too dangerous to actually perform, mind you. That’s the “Jackass” difference.
With “Jackass Forever” set to release in February, the gang is hitting the promotion trail. Appearing on a YouTube game show recently, Steve-O gave fans a little behind-the-scenes knowledge. You may want to strap in for this one, folks. The “Jackass” guys are a wild bunch.
Steve-O and beloved “Jackass Forever” cast member Jason “Wee Man” Acuña stopped by to play a game of Truth or Dab with notorious internet spicy man Sean Evans. Host of the wildly popular interview show “Hot Ones,” Evans seems like a delightful man. What he does to people with his arsenal of ulcer-inducing, terrifying hot sauces is a completely different story.
Compared to the stuff the “Jackass” guys do for the sake of their movies, eating ridiculously hot wings is a walk in the park. Right? Perhaps Sean Evans finally met his match.
Regardless, the real juicy stuff came when the pair of “Jackass Forever” stars began to reminisce about past stunts gone wrong. Well, in a way, they went according to plan. They were just too horrifying for the movie-watching public to behold.
‘Jackass Forever’ Star Johnny Knoxville Got Hit By a Car, Shot Himself, and Took a Ride on a Cement Roller Coaster
“And when he said, ‘I’m Johnny Knoxville and I’m going to get hit by a car real soon.’ Car just came flying, he went through the windshield, rolled over. They asked him, ‘What were you thinking when you got hit by a car?’ And his answer was, ‘I wore two pairs of jeans so that I’d be safe,'” Steve-O said of Knoxville.
Ah, yes. The old double layer of denim trick. Works every time. And by that we mean it worked once… for Johnny Knoxville. And at what cost?
Well, if getting hit by a car hasn’t piqued your interest. How about a .38 caliber bullet? That’s right. According to Jason “Wee Man” Acuña, Johnny Knoxville “shot himself with the 38-caliber Smith and Wesson handgun.” By all accounts, Knoxville is still alive and well. Still, that’s pure dedication to one’s craft if we’ve ever seen it.
But shooting one’s self for the sake of entertainment isn’t particularly creative. At least, not when compared to the gem of a stunt called “box down stairs.” It’s exactly as it sounds. The “Jackass Forever” crew put a few pillows in a box, taped Johnny Knoxville inside, and sent him down a flight of concrete stairs. The result? “It was violent as hell,” said Steve-O.
Don’t try this stuff at home, folks. Leave it to the professionals.
