Stevie Nicks made the bold choice to cancel all of her concerts for the rest of the year. The Fleetwood Mac vocalist chose to do this as a precaution. Currently, the COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing. The number of cases has risen thanks to a new strain dubbed the Delta variant.
Now, the Fleetwood Mac fans are a passionate bunch. So many are reacting to having to wait even longer to see Nicks again in concert. But for the most part, many fans have been understanding about Nicks decision to cancel her performances.
For instance, one fan says the artist is thinking of them. They wrote, “That’s a conscientious artist. When your fans matter, you make the best decision for them; and in this climate, choosing health over money is always the right decision. Love me some @StevieNicks.”
Likewise, another fan agreed and is looking forward to the 2022 concert season. “Totally understandable. I’m 65 and though vaccinated, feel the need to be cautious and help keep everyone safe. Let’s hope that 2022 will be a great year for concerts and singing again.”
Given the cancelation, one fan is imagining a small-scale reunion for Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham. But that seems unlikely given the alleged bad blood between the two. “It would be kind of amazing if Stevie & Lindsey actually ended up doing an intimate (dare I say acoustic) mini concert online if COVID gets completely out of control again.”
Another fan respected Nicks’ decision, believing she made the right choice given her age. Another person agreed that Nicks was thinking of her fans.
“I respect her decision. Stevie Nicks would have been up on stage, far from crowd, minimal exposure. It’s clear she is more concerned about people who would be attending the concert. No vaccines, no mask mandate, crowded area and possibly stoned = higher risk for them too,” the wrote.
Stevie Nicks Cancels Her Concerts
For many Stevie Nicks fans, the news came as a disappointing shock if an understandable one. Nicks posted online explaining her reasoning behind the cancelation. She said she hoped that everyone would stay safe during the pandemic.
“These are challenging times with challenging decisions that have to be made,” Nicks said in a statement posted online. “I want everyone to be safe and healthy and the rising Covid cases should be of concern to all of us. While I’m vaccinated, at my age, I am still being extremely cautious and for that reason have decided to skip the 5 performances I had planned for 2021.”
Likewise, Nicks agrees that she’s devastated to have to cancel the performances. But she made the decision with a lot of thought and hopes to get back out there for a 2022 concert season.
