In the CBS series “SWAT,” actor Shemar Moore and company showcase the dangerous work done by the brave men and women of the Los Angeles Police Department.

However, the 51-year-old television star also said the popular show has another goal in mind. The show also wants to showcase the lives of these officers and the positive things they do in their lives. Moore talked about this during a November 2020 interview with CBS New York.

“We literally are LAPD SWAT. We are these super cops but we also represent the men and women in real life that there’s a lot of controversy around which we’re trying to give you the optimistic approach to the humanity of these men and women that fight for our lives every day,” Shemar Moore explained.

Giving viewers a show where they can watch people do positive things is also important on “SWAT,” according to Moore. And, of course, the series wants to entertain its viewers.

“We’re just trying to show you the good, trying to help people believe in the good. And then just have a really good time. That’s what’s about to open up,” Moore also said.

‘SWAT’ Star Shemar Moore Said He is ‘Proud’ to Work on the Show

Taking an “optimistic approach” to the stories on “SWAT” is something Shemar Moore is happy to do.

“I’m just proud to be able to do what I love to do. I’m grateful to SONY and CBS for giving us a platform to do our thing. We’re in a particular show that can only tell the stories that we’re telling because of the way we’re setup,” the actor also said.

During the same interview, Moore also talked about how “SWAT” also wants to “educate” its viewers.

“I think a lot of people that watch the show will be entertained. In 1 hour, you’re going to be entertained and you’re going to be educated. You’re going to be given different perspectives from different generations,” the actor explained.

Shemar Moore also said the show is able to educate its viewers almost without them knowing it.

“I think you’re going to, whether you realize it or not, learn a lot. I don’t care who you are, I don’t care what color you are, we’re telling human stories. We’re telling real stories. I’m giving you real perspectives and I’m really proud of that,” he added.

“SWAT” airs on CBS at 8 p.m. (Eastern) and 7 p.m. (Central) on Fridays. However, this will change in January 2022. The show is now in its fifth season. According to IMDb, the next episode of “SWAT” will air on Friday, Dec. 3.

As fans are aware, Moore plays the character of Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson. Joining him in the cast are David Lim as Victor Tan, Alex Russell as Jim Street, Jay Harrington as David “Deacon” Kay, and Lina Esco as Christina “Chris” Alonso, among others.
