It’s been quite a busy year for “The Expendables” actor Dolph Lundgren. Not only has he been busy filming on the set of “The Expendables 4,” the iconic Sylvester Stallone-directed franchise. Lundgren has also been involved in the filming of the latest Aquaman movie, “Aquaman 2.”

Fans of both film franchises impatiently wait for the release of the upcoming films. However, it appears the movie star is simply excited to reunite with fellow star, Sylvester Stallone.

Despite his busy schedule, it appears from his post that the multi-versed actor got lucky in his shooting schedule. He captions his latest photo alongside Stallone, “Amazingly, both pictures were shooting here around the same time.”

The second picture Lundgren references comes right before this one, capturing time spent on the set of “Aquaman 2.”

Lundgren’s two current roles capture the actor’s diverse talent. “The Expendables 4” features the star alongside Hollywood tough guys like Sylvester Stallone himself and costar Jason Statham. However, his role on “Aquaman 2” puts him in an entirely different cast and environment.

Over on “The Expendables 4,” Lundgren plays the role of Gunner Jensen, a heavy weapons specialist. The character commonly provides comic relief throughout the action-packed series. “Aquaman 2” puts Lundgren in an entirely different role. The superhero film casts the actor as King Nereus, an ally to Aquaman rival Orm & Co. The new film hopefully reveals the remainder of Nereus’s journey as audiences explore the next steps in Aquaman’s trials.

Sylvester Stallone Takes a Backseat On ‘Expendables 4’

While Dolph Lundgren apparently has no intention of slowing things down as far as his acting career goes, the opposite remains true for “Rocky” actor, Sylvester Stallone. At the age of 75, Stallone has had a heavy influence throughout the course of “The Expendables” franchise.

Starring as team leader Barney Ross, Stallone has remained centric to “The Expendables” franchise since the original’s release in 2010. Now, four movies in, Sylvester Stallone has wrapped up filming his scenes for the latest edition. And while the iconic actor shared the conclusion of his scenes is “bitter-sweet”, he is “ready to pass the baton on to Jason [Statham} and his capable hands.”

Sylvester Stallone’s announcement comes following his statement that Statham will continue to star in the hit series as the elder actor takes a step back.

And while fans of “The Expendables” films will surely miss the baritone voice and appearances of Sylvester Stallone as Barney Ross, we can take refuge in knowing that Ross’s close second, Lee Christmas (Statham) will take over.

While the premiere of “The Expendables 4” will reveal whether or not Stallone’s minimal appearances heavily affect the franchise, Statham is an experienced actor when it comes to action-centric films. Alongside his current filming pursuits, Jason Statham has starred in hit films like the “Fast & Furious” franchise, as well as it’s offshoot, “Hobbs & Shaw.” He’s also played lead roles in films such as “The Italian Job,” “Crank,” and “Homefront.”
