Tawny Kitaen, Actress Known for ‘Bachelor Party,’ Dies at 59

Tawny Kitaen, famous for appearing in “Bachelor Party, has passed away. The actor passed away on Friday (May 7). Kitaen was 59-years-old.

According to Variety, the actor passed away at her home in Newport Beach on Friday morning. Currently, the coroner hasn’t revealed a cause of death. She was listed as Tawny Finely in the official report by the Orange County coroner’s office.

Kitaen, born Julie E. Kitaen, went by the stage name Tawny. She made a name for herself in the music world during the 1980s. Most famously, she appeared in several music videos for the band Whitesnake. If you’ve ever seen the video for “Here I Go Again,” one of the band’s most popular songs, then you’re familiar with Kitaen’s work. The actor became a bit of a sex symbol in relation to her music video performances.

She also appeared in video for the band’s songs “Still of the Night,” “Is This Love” and “The Deeper the Love” as well. She showed off her auto acrobatics skills during the videos. On a more personal note, Kitaen also married Whitesnake lead singer David Coverdale in 1989. But their marriage was not to last. They ended up getting divorced just two years later in 1991.

Tawny Kitaen And Her Career

Outside of Whitesnake, Kitaen first entered the music industry in 1983. She acted as a cover model for the heavy metal band RATT. Kitaen appeared on the cover of two consecutive albums including their debut and their album “Out of the Cellar” as well in 1984. She also briefly dated RATT guitarist Robbin Crosby as well.

Moving outside of the music industry, Kitaen also pursued a career as an actor. She appeared opposite a young Tom Hanks in the 1984 film “Bachelor Party.”

Other roles included “Witchboard,” “White Hot” and  “Dead Tides” as well. She also once appeared during a “Seinfeld” episode as a guest star. Most of her recent career has been in reality television. Kitaen starred in shows such as “The Surreal Life,” “Botched” and “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.”

“Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew” focused on Kitaen’s struggle with substance abuse. Over the years, the actor had a few legal woes. For instance, authorities arrested her on two separate instances. In 2006, they charged her for cocaine possession. And in 2009, Kitaen was arrested for driving under the influence.

In 1997, Kitaen married baseball player Chuck Finely. But the couple later got divorced. Kitaen is survived by the her two daughters.
