Besides giving back to her fans in the form of music, Taylor Swift has done so much more than that this year.

After just announcing today that she is releasing the sister album of “folklore” called “evermore,” fans have been ecstatic. She will be releasing two albums within five months of each other. She also created a movie to go along with the first.

It’s clear that Swift and her team have been busy during quarantine.

For others, however, COVID-19 has created problems. From unemployment to sickness to depression to falling behind on bills, the long-term pandemic is making it hard for people to find any regularity in their life.

Swift Gives Back

According to Billboard, Swift donated $13,000 to two mothers’ GoFundMe pages.

The decision to donate came after reading an article titled “Millions of Americans are heading into the holidays unemployed and over $5,000 behind on rent.”

Unlike other countries, the financial assistance during the pandemic, which has lasted longer than many Americans have anticipated, has wreaked havoc on individual families’ welfare.

“This has been a horrible year for us … Its been rough because I’m not the only person looking for work. My family would appreciate any help this holiday. I am definitely praying for miracles. God bless everyone,” the mother wrote on her fundraiser page.

When Swift read about Nikki Cornwell’s story, she decided to help her and her family out.

“Nikki, I read about you in the Washington Post and thought it was really brave of you to share your story. I’m so sorry for everything you’ve had to go through this year and wanted to send you this gift, from one Nashville girl to another. Love, Taylor,” the star wrote next to her donation.

The other mother from the fundraiser, Shelbie Selewski, was going through similar issues. She lost her job in the spring. She then had to stay home with her daughter who has a collapsed lung. The baby was born right before COVID-19 happened.

Despite selling everything they could, bills are still tight.

“Shelbie, I’m sending you this gift after reading about you in the Washington Post. No one should have to feel the kind of stress that’s been put on you. I hope you and your beautiful family have a great holiday season. Love, Taylor,” she wrote with her $13,000 donation.

Taylor Swift COVID-19 Response

She is known for her willingness to give back. From donating to NYC schools to giving money to animal foundations to even helping Kesha out, Swift seems to care about her fans on a personal level.

Her decision to donate to those struggling due to the pandemic also makes sense based on Swift’s past commentary. Taylor Swift was vocal earlier this year about being safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“God, you hope people would respect it and would understand that going out for a night isn’t worth the ripple effect that it causes … But obviously we’re seeing that a lot of people don’t seem to have their eyes open to that — or if they do, a lot of people don’t care, which is upsetting,” Swift said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

One of her songs, “Epiphany,” actually is dedicated to essential workers. She connected the trauma of WWI that her grandfather served into the kind of trauma health workers will have at the end of all this.
