The NFL is witnessing its first major COVID-19 outbreak as the Tennessee Titans continue to return more positive coronavirus.

On Saturday, three more Titans personnel tested positive, according to the New York Post. The latest positive tests bring the overall total to 16 positives. ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter confirmed the additional positives on Twitter Saturday morning.

“Outbreak now official: Three more Titans players tested positive today in Tennessee” per source,” Schefter wrote.

He followed that up with another tweet confirming the total number of positive tests in the Titans organization.

In all, 16 members of the Titans’ organization now have tested positive in the past week: eight Titans’ player and eight other members of the organization,” Schefter reports.

The positive tests have all been confirmed this week. The Titans are the first NFL team with a significant cornonavirus outbreak this season.

Tennessee defeated the Minnesota Vikings last Sunday in week three of the NFL season. The Vikings have not had any Covid-19 cases this week, according to the New York Post.

Titans Changing Schedule

The Titans were supposed to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, but NFL officials have pushed the game back to week seven action on October 25.

The undefeated team placed eight players on the Reserve/COVID-19 list just this week. The list is for players who have contracted the virus or have come in close contact with someone who has tested positive.

Head Coach Mike Vrabel said some of the affected players are experiencing flu-like symptoms.

Players and other NFL personnel test daily for the coronavirus. Earlier this week NFL officials issued a memo to teams mandating that players and coaches not leave their team’s city during their bye week. Coaches and teams have also seen fines for not wearing face-covering masks on the sidelines during games. The league has also threatened to take away draft picks away and suspend coaches that do not comply with mandated precautions.
