Linda Hamilton’s twin sister, Leslie Hamilton Freas, has passed away.
The 63-year-old died unexpectedly in New Jersey on Saturday Aug. 22, according to her obituary. Her cause of death wasn’t publicly announced.
Unlike her more famous sister, Freas chose to devote herself to the medical field. She worked as an ER nurse and transitioned to working in hospice care later in her career.
“Leslie was the consummate caretaker, and devoted her life to helping her children and the lives of others,” the obituary stated. “She was an avid fisherwoman through the years, and was not shy about out-fishing anyone who joined her. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her family and friends, and will be deeply missed by those she leaves behind.”
Leslie Hamilton Freas appeared alongside her sister in ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day.’
While she wasn’t an actress by trade, she appeared in 1991’s Terminator 2: Judgement Day alongside her sister. Many may not have realized they saw Freas on the big screen. Freas served as a double for her sister’s character Sarah Connor. She appeared in a mirror scene as her sister’s reflection and later in the film when the robot T-1000 takes Connor’s appearance.
It was Freas’ sole film credit. Her sister recently returned to the role with 2019’s Terminator: Dark Fate while Freas did not. Hamilton has starred in three movies as Sarah Connor, in addition to a vocal cameo in 2009’s Terminator: Salvation. It’s unlikely that she will return for another film in the franchise.
“I would really appreciate maybe a smaller version, where so many millions are not at stake. Today’s audience is just so unpredictable,” Hamilton told The Hollywood Reporter. “But if there were something new that really spoke to me, I am a logical person, and I will always consider viable changes.”
Freas is survived by her twin sister, Linda, as well as their older sister, younger brother and step brother, three children, Ashley, Adam and Kendall, and two grandchildren.
