It’s official, Boondock Saints fans, Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery are officially returning for the upcoming film The Boondock Saints III.

According to Deadline, Boondock Saints stars Reedus and Flanery will join forces with director Troy Duffy for the movie. The media outlet reported that Impossible Dream Entertainment is partnering with Shaun Redick, who is known for Get Out and BlacKkKlansman, and Yvette Yates Redick to produce the film.

The Boondock Saints III is currently set to start shooting next May. The plans to start mid-spring are due to Flanery completing his work Amazon’s The Boys. Meanwhile, Reedus will wrap on the latest season of AMC’s The Walking Dead.

While speaking about the film, Duffy revealed, “The fans have loved these characters for 20 years. They use terms of endearment like ‘the Brothers’ or ‘the Boys.’ We left them in jail at the end of Boondock 2. And fans want to know what happened to them.”

Duffy then shared that Reedus and Flanery have been a driving force to keep the Boondock Saints franchise on track. They are also responsible for breaking new ground in the upcoming film’s storyline. “The fans have been waiting. They literally ask about it daily. And I am really excited to work with Impossible Dream to make Boondock III a reality.”

Shaun Redick added that Duffy, Reedus, and Flanery have “skillfully architected” a killer story that fans are going to go crazy for.

“We love and appreciate that Boondock Saints has such a rabid fan base that is starving for anything and everything builds on the franchise. We see fans tattoo the characters, sayings, and prayer on their bodies. They engage in digital and social media. And they travel enormous distances to meet and engage with the creators and stars.”

Director Troy Duffy Gives a Sneak Peek of What Fans Can Expect For ‘Boondock Saints III’

While also chatting about the upcoming Boondock Saints III, director Troy Duffy gave fans a little sneak peek of what they can expect.

“Where we’re going is, the brothers are older. They are coming out into a brand new world that is not like the one they left. They are at odds. One wants to continue [fighting crime], the other doesn’t.”

Duffy does state that there are no new enemies out there in Boondock Saints III. This is unlike the traditional ones the brothers have faced.

“That the thing that is timely about this one. I asked the fan based once, who would you most like to see Connor and Murphy kill? There were like 4500 answers and some were Biblical. People just don’t give you one-word answers.”

The Boondock Saints III director revealed the number one answer was politicians. “I wrote a scene right now where one of them says ‘Are you f—ing kidding? You can’t kill a politician.’ While the other says, ‘Are you kidding me? They’re the ones doing it.’
