‘The Brady Bunch’: Eve Plumb and Maureen McCormick Resolved Feud with One Project Decades Later

by Keeli Parkey

Even though there was often drama on episodes of “The Brady Bunch,” those issues were usually resolved by the end of each episode. However, the drama between two of the actresses on the popular family sitcom lasted for much, much longer.

So, which actresses are we talking about? Well, it’s none other than Maureen McCormick and Eve Plumb. McCormick played Marcia, the oldest Brady daughter, on the show. Plumb played the middle daughter, Jan. “The Brady Bunch” aired from 1969 until 1974. And, it remains a popular sitcom to this very day.

According to several reports, the two actresses did not like one another behind the scenes at all. And, while this didn’t show in the final product of “The Brady Bunch,” it did made things uncomfortable on set. Other actors, including Susan Olsen, who played their younger sister Cindy Brady, got caught up in the drama. Years later, Olsen would refer to the battle between McCormick and Plumb as “petty.”

“I think it’s kind of petty,” Olsen reportedly told People during 2020. “From day one with these two I have always been in the middle, and now it’s at the point where there isn’t even a desire to communicate through me.”

There was once a reunion show of “The Brady Bunch” in the work at one point. However, according to reports, it did not go forward because of the shared dislike between Plumb and McCormick.

Fortunately for fans of the show, the two actresses have reportedly resolved their differences in recent years. So, what happened?

Reality Show Reunites Cast Members from ‘The Brady Bunch’

It was the reality show “A Very Brady Renovation” where Maureen McCormick and Eve Plumb began to settle old disputes, or at least put them in the past, according to a 2019 article on NewIdea.com. The show aired on TLC. It involved the renovation of the home that was used as the exterior of the Brady home on the classic show.

The reality show followed the adult actors as they experienced the home’s interior being renovated. The goal of the renovation was to make the inside look like the interiors seen on the sitcom. Of course, experts in home renovation were needed to pull this off, especially since the home had only one story.

This, of course, had to be changed – you can’t have that famous Brady staircase in a house with only one floor. According to the article, they were able to pull this off.

Another impressive thing about this reality show is that both McCormick and Plumb agreed to participate given their history. And, according to one of their television brothers, the two actresses got along on the reality show. That “brother” was Christopher Knight, who played Peter Brady.

“Perhaps it was time to get back together, perhaps it was because this project was such a loving project, but that tension was soon dissipated,” Knight said.

In fact, Eve Plumb told NewIdea.com that the alleged feud was a thing of the past.

“You know, we’re all grown-up now, obviously, and we all get along like real people. And HGTV just offered us an extended family reunion,” Plumb reportedly said. “Just like any family reunion, having different memories of different events.”
