The Family Film Awards aired in late April and the entire cast of The Brady Bunch has been honored with the Iconic Television Award.
The Brady Bunch is without a doubt one of the most memorable sitcoms of all time. The popular show aired on ABC and was on television airwaves from September 26, 1969, until March 8, 1974. The show, of course, revolved around the Brady family — a large blended family with six children. It is often considered one of the last old-style family sitcoms.
The show only aired for five seasons but its success in syndication led to several reunion films and other spin-offs. Some of those include The Brady Bunch Hour, The Brady Girls Get Married, The Brady Brides, A Very Brady Christmas, The Bradys, and The Brady Bunch Movie.
There is definitely no questioning just how influential the show has been over the years. The show was able to captivate audience members who wanted to make the Brady family even bigger. And as a result, they were recently honored with the Iconic Television Award, courtesy of the Family Film Awards.
Lloyd Schwartz, the main producer of The Brady Bunch, shared his thoughts on the prestigious honor.
“It’s been a great thing to have people know every episode, and ask questions about it,” Schwartz said. “You know, I threw the ball that hit Marsha in the nose, and I’m kind of afraid that might be on my tombstone.”
Who Is Lloyd Schwartz from ‘The Brady Bunch?’
For all of the loyal fans of The Brady Bunch out there, the last name “Schwartz” should definitely be ringing a bell. After all, the show was created by television mogul Sherwood Schwartz and his wife, Mildred Seidman. Sherwood Schwartz is also responsible for creating Gilligan’s Island on CBS.
You might be thinking, “So, where does Lloyd Schwartz fit in here?” Well, Lloyd is the son of Sherwood Schwartz. Lloyd worked alongside his well-known father for decades, beginning in the late 1960s. The father-son duo teamed up on various Brady Bunch projects, oftentimes as writer or producer.
Meanwhile, in 1985, Lloyd Schwartz founded The Storybook Theatre of Los Angeles with his wife, Barbara Mallory. Since then, their establishment has received honors from the United States Senate and the House of Representatives.
And in June of 2008, Schwartz directed a stage musical in Los Angeles called A Very Brady Musical. He and his sister, Hope Juber, wrote the show. Schwartz, of course, directed the production, while his wife and his son starred as Carol and Greg Brady.
