You might be wondering what The Brady Bunch and Mission Impossible have to do with each other. Well, the answer has to do with Barry Williams, who played Greg Brady.
From 1967 to 1973, Peter graves starred as James “Jim” Phelps in the Mission Impossible TV show. People all over the world loved the show. The show is to thank for the movie franchise that Tom Cruise starred in beginning in 1996.
In an interview with MeTV on May 26, Barry Williams explained the relationship he had with Graves. Mike Deeson, who conducted the interview, asked about how Graves influenced Williams’ acting career.
Specifically, Deeson wanted to know how Graves changed his life. Williams talked about how the actor was an inspiration to him in his career.
“He had a big influence on me, and that influence did get me into acting,” The Brady Bunch star said. “He was doing a show in the 50s called Fury, about a horse who couldn’t be ridden by anyone but his adopted son. [The son] was a little older than I, but I totally related to it.”
Williams continued his explanation about the effects that Graves had on him. Shortly thereafter, he found out that Graves lived down the road from him. The actor also noted that he and Graves’ daughter went to kindergarten with each other. So, that was certainly an influence on him.
“I got to guest star in Mission Impossible with him later. [That was] just around the time that I got The Brady Bunch,” Williams said. He also mentioned that it felt like a “full circle,” and that he was excited about the opportunity.
The star of the hit sitcom then talked about how around 10 years old, his acting career was picking up steam. He started getting to work with really famous actors.
Barry Williams Loved “The Brady Bunch” and Considered the Other Cast Members to Be Family
Florence Henderson played Carol Brady on the sitcom. Williams explained that she was a mother figure for him on and off of the set.
He explained the big part she played in his life during an interview with MeTV. In this question and answer, the interviewer wanted to know more about their relationship.
“Yes,” Williams said in response to her being a second mother to him. “And she had a lot of practice as well. I don’t know if you’re aware of this Mike, but she had four children of her own that she was taking care of when she went home after taking care of us all day.”
The Brady Bunch star also said, “Of course, at work, she had Alice to help. So that made it a lot easier for me. But yeah, she was a great mom and took a lot of care with us. [She would] listen to us, encourage us, and was very supportive all through our lives. It’s a lifetime, lifelong friendship.”
Barry Williams also noted in his book that he had a crush on the then 36-year-old Henderson. At that time he was only 16 years old. But, it was probably because she was so open and caring with him that he felt fine asking her out on a date.
She went out with him for the date, but the two never became anything more than friends.
