When you have a crossover effect happen between “The Brady Bunch” and “Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.”, then it deserves some closer scrutiny.

During a 2019 interview on WFMZ-TV, actor Barry Williams, who played Greg Brady, started talking about the early days of his career. One of the shows mentioned where he had a part was “That Girl,” which starred Marlo Thomas. He also mentions “Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.” as well.

“If you look at the shows of the day, then that’s when I was starting,” Williams said. “So ‘That Girl’ and ‘Gomer Pyle,’ ‘It Takes A Thief,’ ‘Mission: Impossible,’ ‘The Mod Squad.’ All those shows I was on.”

‘The Brady Bunch’ Star Plays One Of Two Boys In CBS Show’s Episode

Speaking of “Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.” the episode in which Williams appears is called “A Star Is Not Born.” It’s from the CBS series’ fifth season. Williams has a part as one of two boys on the show.

The episode has Sergeant Carter, played by Frank Sutton, and his platoon get into a movie. Gomer, played by Jim Nabors, sings beautifully but Carter has trouble with his lines. It meant Carter was put into another part than the one he was originally supposed to do.

Williams appeared in all five seasons that “The Brady Bunch” ran on ABC. He also made appearances in the different reunion shows over the years. The show originally ran between 1969-74 and was a Friday night staple in the network’s lineup.

At 66 years old, Williams is the oldest living original cast member of “The Brady Bunch.”

Williams Didn’t Get To Speak With Florence Henderson Before Her Death

Now Williams took over the mantle of oldest living original cast member when Florence Henderson died on Nov. 24, 2016.

Both actors developed a friendship not only during the show’s run but beyond it, too. Williams and Henderson would keep up with each others’ careers and chat when possible.

He talked about what he would have said to Henderson before she died during an interview with “Entertainment Tonight” back in 2016.

“I love you,” Williams said. “I think it’s important to know that many people share this loss. She will be remembered, she will be loved for a long time.”

Henderson played matriarch Carol Brady on “The Brady Bunch,” bring her three kids along to marry Mike Brady, played by Robert Reed. Mike Brady, of course, had three boys of his own. So, there’s your merry family of six kids, two parents, and one housekeeper, Alice, played by Ann B. Davis.
