The Western movie genre is getting a lot of love. Netflix is getting in on the movement and releasing The Harder They Fall starring Idris Elba. The film focuses on Black cowboys and outlaws of the 1800s including Nat Love played by Jonathan Majors.
Majors spoke with PopCulture.com and talked about the film, what fans can expect, and more. This is going to be a different type of cowboy movie it seems. But that doesn’t mean it is going to be a completely new take on the genre.
“When I read it, I felt this was an impossible character, Nat Love was, because of what was being asked of him, all the people he got to interact with, it just seemed unreal to me,” the actor said. When he saw the rest of the cast, he had quite the reactions as well.
“I thought, ‘Well, that’s just a beautiful thought. I’d like to be part of that.'”
Although the story is fictional, the characters have a basis in reality. That includes Nat Love who was a real living and breathing cowboy. His affiliates must battle with Rufus Black, played by the aforementioned Idris Elba. For Majors, this Netflix film is exciting and has a lot to offer viewers.
“It is a buffet of entertainment, a buffet of catharsis, a buffet of historical relevance and zeitgeist contributing factors. The music is the music. The way we cooperate in order to build the story, the way we collaborated in order to chisel out this statue that is The Harder They Fall. You will get a lot. There’s a lot there. If you want gluten-free, watch this scene. If you want meat, watch this scene. It’s all there, it’s all there.”
Idris Elba Offers Advice to Costar in Netflix Western
While talking about the movie, Majors spoke about Idris Elba and his role in the cast of the Netflix movie. The actor is known all over the world for various roles and for his looks, voice, and charm. It could be pretty intimidating working alongside the superstar actor. Majors remembers when his costar was a leader on set during filming.
“I remember in the final scene, actually, he said something to me he actually said something to our director, [Jeymes Samuel], he said, ‘We’ve got to get back,’ and he was talking about something that’s happening on the other side of the camera in regards to performance on my end. [He] was seeing something that I was doing and he felt that he wanted to make sure that was in the movie, that big brother-ship, looking after the film and looking after the younger actor and the younger man in the moment. That’s a little story about how tight we became.”
When a cast gets together and the chemistry is running high, great things can happen. The new movie is set to come out on Netflix next month on November 3.
