As previously reported, Corcoran and The View panel was chatting about how Emma Grede, the Founder and CEO of the Good American denim brand, will soon be a guest on Shark Tank. Speaking about the brand, the daytime talk show’s co-host Sunny Hostin then revealed that Good American’s mission is to provide jeans in a wide range of sizes. Goldberg joking remarked, “Well, I have to try them. Will they fit this COVID [butt]?”
Although Hostin and the other The View co-hosts reassured Whoopi that the jeans would fit her just fine, Corcoran replied, “When you get finished with those jeans and decide you don’t like them, give them to me. I’m gonna make two pairs.”
Fellow The View co-host Ana Navarro quickly clapped back by taking a shot at Corcoran’s dress. “Whoopi, let me just tell you something. Both Sara Haines and Jill Biden wore that dress already, on TV.”
Following The View appearance, Corcoran took to Twitter with a video apologizing for her remarks. “I made a joke at Whoopi’s expense, which I now realize wasn’t funny. For anyone who I may have offended unintentionally, I just wanted to say I really am very sorry.”
How Did Whoopi Goldberg Respond to Barbara Corcoran’s Comments During ‘The View’ Appearance?
While responding to Barbara Corcoran’s apology on Twitter, The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg tweeted, “Barbara we have been friends forever and I know your humor, I knew you were kidding.”
Following the taping of The View on Monday (October 11th), TMZ caught up with Goldberg to talk about how she really feels about the Corcoran comment. When asked if she took offense to the joke, Goldberg declared, “Oh no, no. She didn’t need to apologize. This is the lady that blew away her birthday party to get into a profit. So, you know, Barbara has always been funny and weird. And that’s who she is. And no, it takes a lot more to offend me.”
The View co-host does say she’s known Corcoran for too long to be upset. She also assured that the Shark Tank star is not banned from the ABC daytime talk show.
‘The View’ Fans Respond to Barbara Corcoran’s Tweeted Apology
Although Whoopi Goldberg is pretty much over the comments, The View fans are not done with Barbara Corcoran just yet.
One fan tweeted, “Let me fix that: ‘I said something rude to Whoopi that may have hurt her feelings and likely hurt the feelings of several other people, whether they are overweight, love someone who is overweight, or are just good people. Body-shaming is unkind, and I am sorry for what I said.’”
Another fan then responded to Goldberg’s tweet. “No Whoopi friends don’t joke about a friend’s weight! They SHOULD KNOW BETTER.”
