The cast of “The View” has certainly changed so much over the years! Since the hit daytime talk show premiered in 1997, “The View” has been a mid-morning source of all the latest news, gossip, and pop-culture information.
The popular talk show premiered on August 11, 1997. Created by iconic broadcast journalist, Barbara Walters, “The View” was established to offer generational takes on all of the hottest topics of the day.
When the show first premiered, it featured a variety of well-known faces. Initially, Walters, who took the helm heading most of the discussions. The hit show’s panel also consisted of Joy Behar, Star Jones, Debbie Matenopoulos, and Meredith Vieira.
“The Views” Provides All Sides of a Variety of Current Issues
From the latest pop-culture happenings to fashion trends, headlining news, and even politics, the multi-generational panel discussed it all each morning. “The View” has offered a different take on these topics over the years. Each member of the panel coming from different backgrounds, different career paths, and different political or religious beliefs. Because of this, the hosts often found their discussions growing into heated debates, and sometimes outright arguments.
Throughout the 24-year run of “The View” has seen some changes in the hosting line-up. Recently, HollywoodLife took a look at the host panels throughout its run.

“The View” Sees Many Host Changes Over the Years
Matenopoulos left her seat on the panel in 1998. Lisa Ling replaced the journalist in 1999.
In 2002, Ling was replaced by Elizabeth Hasselbeck. Hasselbeck had found fame competing in “Survivor: The Australian Outback.”
Star Jones left her seat around the famous table in 2006, as did Meredith Viera. Shortly after that actress/comedian Rosie O’Donnell found her spot on “The View.”
Whoopi Goldberg took O’Donell’s seat in 2007. Since then, “The View” has seen hosts Sherri Shephard, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Wallace, Rosie Perez, Raven Symone, Michelle Collins, Candace Cameron Bure, Paula Faris, Jedidiah Bila, Sarah Haines, and Sonny Hostin. Currently, “The View” features hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and Meghan McCain.
