Levine left the show back in 2019, saying it was time to move forward with his music career. In the upcoming season of “The Voice,” Blake Shelton will be the only original judge from the start of the show. He’ll be joined by Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and newcomer Ariana Grande.
But Levine has certainly done fine for himself since then, producing new music with Maroon 5 and starting to tour again after living in quarantine for a year. In fact, his recent tour is what added flame to the fire between him and “The Voice” coach Blake Shelton.
According to Yahoo! News, one fan caught Levine calling out Shelton with the f-bomb on stage. The video looks to be from Maroon 5’s current tour for their new album JORDI. Twitter user Dianna Quirin posted the video, where Levine looks directly at the camera.
“Hey Blake, f—ck you we sold more tickets. Ahhh!” Levine screams. He grins as he turns away from the camera back toward the band.
Both Levine and Shelton are touring right now for their respective new albums. Levine’s boast seems to be referring to the fact that Maroon 5 (allegedly) sold more tour tickets than Shelton’s Freinds and Heroes Tour.
Honestly, it’s hard to tell if the former “The Voice” coach is joking or being serious in his insults to Shelton. It could just be friendly banter between the two, playing up a little drama or rivalry between them. But some sources say it could be Levine poking back at Shelton after not getting an invite to his and Gwen Stefani’s wedding.
‘The Voice’ Alum Adam Levine Not Invited To Blake Shelton And Gwen Stefani’s Wedding
Levine, Shelton, and Stefani spent a lot of time together on the set of “The Voice.” It’s understandable that Levine might feel hurt about not getting invited to the celebration, especially when he had to find out about the wedding online like everyone else.
Sources told Radar that “Adam had no idea when Gwen and Blake were going to get married. Adam wasn’t invited to the wedding and was not given the heads up despite the fact that Blake and Adam used to be as close as brothers when they were both on ‘The Voice’ together.”
But Shelton and Stefani only invited about 40 people to the wedding anyway. And no other “The Voice” judges received invites. Only host Carson Daly, who officiated the ceremony.
“This was a wedding for close friends and family. Not Hollywood celebrities,” the sources said. “Rather than focusing on who Blake and Gwen are not close with, I think it’s interesting to focus on just how close they are with Carson. He is literally family at this point.”
