Pete Mroz admitted in his The Voice introduction that he wanted to be the next Garth Brooks back in the day. Also turns out he was in a band with Blake Shelton.
So of course, Shelton picked the 45-year-old Mroz for his team. Mroz sells golf apparel. But before that, he was in a band called The Young Riders in Nashville. Shelton also was in that band. That was 25 years ago. According to Mroz, Shelton left the group and took the bass player with him.
Shelton tweeted a photo of the band after Mroz’s audition aired. He wrote “Talk about a full circle moment. I’m excited to be working with you man!!”
Since the two last worked, Shelton became the highest-earning country singer in the US. In middle age, Pete Mroz wants a shot to get there, too.
Who Is Pete Mroz, the Newest Team Shelton Singer on The Voice?
Pete Mroz makes a living working as a salesman. The Voice showed his decked out mini-van that looks like a giant office/closet on wheels.
But his passion is singing. He has his own website and even sells Mroz-branded merchandise.
And he also has an intro on the site. He wrote it.
Mroz wrote: “My mind wonders what someone would want to know about me … ‘step inside my heart and tell me what you think’. First, my last name is M-R-O-Z (a great Polish name)! I am … a father, husband, lover of music, lover of people, songwriter, guitar player, photographer, videographer, business man and a bluesman. My native state is Indiana and I have lived in over 14 states which has really shaped my thinking.”
Mroz Moved To Nashville at 19
Mroz said he moved to Nashville from Indiana when he was 19. He had dreams like so many other young singers. He wanted to be Garth Brooks. But he said he was influenced by a bevy of singers, including Eric Clapton and Steve Green. As he wrote: “Now there’s a combination … a christian artist, a bluesman and a country singer.”
He said he’s a singer and a songwriter. And he describes his style as “blues and adult contemporary.”
He’s recorded and written the songs for five albums. You can find some of the tracks on his site.
Mroz said he’s “shared the stage with many great musicians who have shaped and molded me into the artist I am. But also when off the stage, I have been blessed with so many amazing people that have taken the time to love and teach me about life.
“Though I never became that country star, my path was to be a journeyman … exploring different genres of music, writing love songs, expressing myself through the lens of a camera or helping a person solve a problem. I have learned to not take myself too seriously and know my place in this world. Everyday I try to be thankful and live in the light! Onward and Upward!! “
Pete Mroz sounds like a perfect fit for Team Blake Shelton.
