As we all know, Betty White is hilarious and must be protected at all costs. She’s also been hilarious for an amazing 99 years. In fact, White has been in the television industry for over 80 years, which is longer than anyone else ever.
She is also known for her film career in movies like “You Again,” “The Proposal,” and “Advise & Consent.”
Betty White and Johnny Carson
One of her funny moments happened on “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.” The episode premiered on Oct. 2, 1987. This was right around the peak years of her most infamous show, “The Golden Girls” as well as her role in the TV film, “Alf Loves a Mystery.”
On the show, Carson starts off by saying that Betty White also has her new book out, “Betty White: In Person.” White has written seven books over the course of her life.
White admits that she has been writing since she was 8. The point of this book was to talk about issues in the industry and other vignettes through her personal experience.
At one point she pulls out the first screenplay she ever wrote when she was a child. She talks about it and mentions that her dad liked one particular phrase she used in the script as a substitute for the word “said.”
“The one my dad always liked, and I never knew why, was ‘Why yes, he ejaculated.’ My dad got the biggest kick out of that and I never knew why.”
Further on, White also makes a joke about getting together with Carson. He said that he doesn’t feel like he actually knows the real Betty White.
“Well, if you hadn’t gotten in such a rush to get married we could have arranged something,” she said.
Like most of her appearances on television, White makes it a point to be the funniest person in the room.
Later on, the two would make even more appearances together. She did a series of skits, including one with a cynical middle-aged Tarzan and Jane.
Funniest Moments from White
Some of White’s funniest moments have been her proving to us all that she is not a sweet, innocent old lady.
One example of that is when she had her music video debut in “I’m Still Hot” with electro-pop artist Luciana. She raps lyrics like, ” I will get you sweaty ’cause I’m the big Betty” or “I rock your world with my cheesecake.”
No one can forget her role in “The Proposal” where she and Sandra Bullock dance along to Lil Jon’s “Get Low” in the forest. Bullock isn’t afraid to let people know she’s still got it.
Some of her best moments on TV were on “The Golden Girls” as Rose Nylund, the comedic glue of the group. She earned an Emmy for her classic role in the TV show. In one episode involving a condom, viewers learned a little bit more about Rose.
To make a list of every hilarious White moment would be profoundly difficult. It would surely include most of her TV and movie appearances, especially “Hot in Cleveland.”
As time goes on, her humor has held on tight.
Betty White recently revealed how she has lived so long in an interview with The New York Times. “I’m a health nut. My favorite food is hot dogs with French fries. And my exercise: I have a two-story house and a very bad memory, so I’m up and down those stairs.”
