‘Tiger King’ Joe Exotic Reveals Prostate Cancer Diagnosis

Joe Exotic, the star of the hit Netflix series Tiger King, recently announced that doctors have diagnosed him with prostate cancer.

On Friday, Joe Exotic – real name Joseph Maldonado-Passage – revealed his diagnosis in multiple Twitter posts. Additionally, he once again pleaded to be released from prison. He’s currently serving a 22-year sentence after convictions for several crimes. Authorities charged Maldonado-Passage with animal abuse and a murder-for-hire plot against his rival Carole Baskin.

He’s begged to be released from prison numerous times since sentenced to prison. The Tiger King star has repeatedly claimed he was set up and therefore innocent of his crimes. Following his most recent health scare, he’s requesting his release once more.

Maldonado-Passage touched on his declining health in a series of tweets. He claims that his “body is tired” and that he’s lost a “tremendous amount of weight.” In addition, he said he’s been dealing with terrible mouth sores and that he’s having trouble keeping down any of his food.

“…it’s not just city cops out of control with corruption, but his very own Department of Justice. Make this right and sign that pardon that Trump left behind so I can go home and get proper medical care and proper food. Thank you for all the love and support,” the Tiger King star added in a third tweet.

“…from all over the world. I love you all. Wish me luck… #JusticeForJoeExotic #TigerKing #JoeExotic @JohnPhillips,” Maldonado-Passage concluded in his final Twitter post.

‘Tiger King’ Star Receives Help From Unlikely Source

Back in November, Joe Exotic and his legal team were confident they would receive a pardon from President Donald Trump before he left office. In fact, his legal team was so confident about the pardon, they prepared a stretch limousine to pick up the Tiger King star.

Eric Love, the convicted Oklahoma zookeeper’s lead lawyer, said they had made contact with officials in Washington D.C. He discussed receiving “multiple phone calls” from D.C. on a potential pardon, according to a TMZ video.

“We feel that it is going to happen,” Love said. “We hope, very, very soon.”

“The pardon’s gonna happen,” he added.

However, Maldonado-Passage never received his pardon since Trump never signed off on it while in office. Fast forward to last month, and the former zookeeper found a helping hand from an unlikely source. In April, his rival Carole Baskin offered to help the Tiger King star.

Baskin and her husband considered helping Maldonado-Passage with his prison sentence. But the couple did propose certain stipulations for their deed. She reportedly wanted her rival to support a new law that would ban individuals from owning big cats.

The United States House of Representatives passed the measure in December 2020. But it has yet to become a federal law. Baskin may have thrown Maldonado-Passage a lifeline, but as of now, he’s still behind prison bars.
