Tim McGraw is chafing at the bit to get back onstage.

In a Sunday morning tweet, the country music star complained, “Man, I wanna play.”

McGraw just released a new album, “Here On Earth,” this August. But he’s not touring to promote it. Instead, he’s been taking to social media.

McGraw performs virtually

Of course, that’s not all McGraw has been up to. Back in May, he and wife Faith Hill took part in the “Feed the Front Line Live” virtual benefit concert. The concert raised money and awareness for Feed the Front Line, a 501(c)(3) that distributes meals to healthcare workers and first responders battling COVID-19.

And in July, McGraw performed “I Called Mama” for a group of nurses who work in a coronavirus unit. The concert-by-video-chat drew big smiles from the nurses.

“I just wanted to say thank you and what great work you guys are doing,” McGraw said, according to the Today show. “Most importantly, for me, it’s an inspiration to my daughters. As they go out into the world, they can see what you guys do. And that’s one of the bright lights, I think, through all of this, being able to see how much people care, how hard people work, how selfless people can be — especially you guys, our front-line workers who put their lives on the line and take care of people. And you give our kids something to emulate as they go forward in life.”

Cross-country road trips

When McGraw and Hill weren’t busy thanking coronavirus warriors, they were road tripping across the U.S. with their daughter Audrey Caroline. The couple’s two other daughters live in California, so that’s where they went.

“We don’t want to fly, we don’t want to do all of that,” McGraw said. “And, of course, we weren’t touring or anything, so we had a little bit of time. We went the southern way and spent a little while in L.A. and then drove up to Palo Alto and visited our other daughter, and then we took the northern route home. We did that like three times this summer.”
