Go ahead and call him “Quick Draw McGraw” if you want, but all Tim McGraw is doing is getting ready for his role in “1883.”
No, we’re obviously not talking about the Hanna-Barbera cartoon character. McGraw, one of country music’s superstars, announced on Thursday that he would be in the cast of the “Yellowstone” prequel. He’s joined by a familiar face to him as wife Faith Hill also is in the “1883” cast.
On Thursday night, McGraw shared a couple of pictures from practicing his “quick draw” skills. Take a look at this from his Twitter account.
News broke earlier on Thursday that the show, which will be aired on Paramount+, will premiere its first episode on Dec. 19. “1883” also will have veteran actor Sam Elliott as part of its cast, too.
‘1883’ Will Put Country Music Couple As First Duttons Out West
Holy “Yellowstone” prequel, what a cast!
“The Duttons are tremendous characters and it’s so thrilling to be able to bring them to life,” McGraw said in a statement as part of his casting. “As a kid growing up riding horses, you think about dream jobs like this and I am just so excited to work with this amazing cast and crew.”
101 Studios CEO David Glasser said that “1883” creator Taylor Sheridan “has proven time and time again his powerful ability to tell riveting stories that are rich with passion, drama, and adventure and entertain audiences everywhere.
“Additionally, the fall is an incredible landscape for television, bringing in the strongest viewer availability,” Glasser said.
Sam Elliott Will Play Duttons’ Guide On New Show From Sheridan
Elliott will play the role of the Duttons’ guide. He’s looking forward to “1883” because it’s a Western.
“It all starts with the writing, and Taylor Sheridan is a brilliant writer,” Elliott said. “I think the Western genre speaks clearly to both of us. The classic struggles of man against man, man against nature, and man against himself. It’s all there, in ‘1883’, and I’m honored to be a part of it.”
In case you hadn’t figured it out, “1883” is part of a growing franchise of shows in the world of “Yellowstone.” “Mayor of Kingstown” is in the works, too. It will star Jeremy Renner, who’s known for playing Marvel superhero Hawkeye.
Studio heads say these shows are part of a growing network of Sheridan-run shows, which should bring in a ton of viewers to Paramount+. As for “Yellowstone,” a new teaser dropped by Paramount Network shows it will return for Season 4 on Nov. 7.
