Tom Cruise Lands Helicopter in Family’s Yard, Offers Them a Ride

by Thad Mitchell

There isn’t much that Hollywood megastar Tom Cruise cannot do and that now includes landing a helicopter in the backyard of an unsuspecting family.

That is exactly what happened to a U.K. family as the actor put his helicopter down right in their field. It wouldn’t be the only surprise for the family as Tom Cruise also allowed them a ride in his helicopter.

Currently filming his latest project and the seventh entry into the “Mission Impossible” franchise, Tom Cruise was in a hurry. He had been spending time in Europe in order to film certain scenes of the upcoming movie. Cruise had to move quickly in order to arrive in Birmingham, U.K., where he was set to shoot more of the film. He chose a helicopter as the quickest way to get from point A to point B and away he went. But, there was a sizable problem waiting for him at the airport of his destination. The nearby airport was closed, leaving Cruise and Company with no place to land.

That is when Alison Webb was contacted and asked a strange question that she wasn’t expecting. Webb, who resides in the nearby city of Warwickshire with her family, was told that someone wanted to land a helicopter in the family’s field. Webb says she was told the helicopter was carrying a “VIP who is running late” and a safe place to land. She had no idea that she and her family were about to come face to face with Tom Cruise.

Tom Cruise Pops In For A Visit

Speaking with BBC News, Webb details the encounter with Tom Cruise, calling it a delightful experience.

“I thought it would be kind of cool for the kids to see the helicopter land in the garden,” she says to the news outlet. “He basically arrived and got out and it was like, wow.”

Webb says Cruise immediately approached and greeted the family after emerging from the helicopter.

“Then he said if the kids would like they could go up in the helicopter,” she says “It turned out to be an incredible day. It was surreal, I still now can’t believe it happened.”

Coming face to face with Tom Cruise is not something that happens just every day. Cruise has long been one of Hollywood’s top leading men with accomplishments and achievements stacked very high. Some of his most notable work includes “Top Gun,” “War of the World” and “Rain Man” among many others. He is one of the highest-paid actors in the world has won several acting awards, including three Golden Globe Awards.

The COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc on the filming industry and Tom Cruise’s latest project is proof. The seventh “Mission Impossible” was originally set to hit theaters in November of this year. Due to filming setbacks, it will now not premiere until May 2022.
