Country musician and actor Travis Tritt is hinting at a collaboration with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and SpaceX.
“Travis + @NASA + @SpaceX?” Tritt tweeted Tuesday. “Stay tuned for something special. #LaunchAmerica.”
Tritt Fans Chime In
His tweet quickly drew intrigued replies from fans.
“Can’t wait to see where we all go from here as a nation!” tweeted Twitter user Kyle Vaughan. “This is vital to the human race to learn more from the exploration of space.”
“I’m on tenterhooks,” chimed in Twitter user Lynn.
Others decided to take a poke at Tritt.
“Send Trump,” suggested another user, in what was likely a jab at Tritt’s support for the president.
The Upcoming Launch
NASA started the #LaunchAmerica hashtag to promote the Saturday, Nov. 14 launch of the SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft. The ship will take off from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. It will transport a crew of four to the International Space Station for a six-month science mission.
The space agency asked people how they’re counting down to the launch in their own way. And it encouraged them to share photos or videos on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter using the hashtag.
NASA astronauts have already proven they’re big fans of Tritt’s.
This summer, NASA commander Chris Cassidy and his colleagues aboard the International Space Station recorded a music video for Tritt’s song “It’s a Great Day to Be Alive.” The astronauts worked together to make the video, TMZ reported.
Cassidy said they’re “very much aware of the hard times which exist in the neighborhoods of the world rotating below.” And he reminded viewers, “Cherish the people you love.”
“Even amid the uncertainty and difficulties of battling through these challenging times, we encourage everyone to be the best ‘crewmates’ and take care of each other,'” Cassidy added.
It’s not clear what Tritt has planned for the launch this weekend. But chances are, the astronauts will be fans of it.
