Trisha Yearwood will be filling in for Ellen Degeneres on her daytime talk show today. The country icon let fans know only a few hours ahead of the broadcast.

Yearwood tweeted a video where she blocks her face with a photo of Degeneres and asking “Guess where I am?”

But she won’t be alone. Her husband Garth Brooks will also help fill in as host. Entertainment Tonight Canada gave a sneak peek of what to expect from the show. The duo interview Matthew McConaughey via Zoom. The Texas native reminisces his first big break in Hollywood, starring in Yearwood’s video for “Walkaway Joe.” He also discusses if he’s seriously considering running for governor of Texas.

Trisha Yearwood, who has put out several cookbooks, is incorporating a cooking segment into the show as well. The famous couple makes a blueberry pancake cake. Yearwood’s mother inspired the dish and the recipe appears in her latest cookbook Trisha’s Kitchen: Easy Comfort Food for Friends and Family.

And they wrap the show up with questions from the audience.

Ellen Degeneres said recently she’s walking away from her hit show after a difficult few years. Former staffers accused her of abuse and neglect behind the scenes. Degeneres has denied all of the accusations but said she would work to do better.

She’ll end her show in 2022, with Kelly Clarkson set to take that time slot. Ellen told the Hollywood Reporter that she’s leaving because the show isn’t creatively fulfilling anymore.

“When you’re a creative person, you constantly need to be challenged — and as great as this show is, and as fun as it is, it’s just not a challenge anymore,” she said.

Yearwood’s Husband Garth Brooks Hosted ‘Ellen’

Garth Brooks hosted the show last year. And did a pretty good job.

Though, he admitted that it was a lot more work than he ever expected. Garth Brooks opened about the experience after a fan asked about what goes on behind the scenes of a major daytime talk show during his Inside Studio G show on Facebook.

“Hi Garth –love watching you host Ellen the other day,” the fan from Nashville starts out. “You did an amazing job. Would you ever consider hosting your own talk show?”

“Man it was fun. It was a lot of fun,” Brooks said. “Man I did not know it was that much. There was like 8,000 things going on all at once. I have to tell you the crew, the writers, the producers…it takes a whole village to pull that (show) off. She (Ellen) has the sweetest, hardest working people around her. Everyone was very, very sweet.”

Brooks even brought the comedy when he “reshot” the famous “The Thunder Rolls” video, but this time starring Ellen DeGeneres.
