Working with someone you trust and admire can make your work life much happier. One person who helped make the workplace happier for “9-1-1” star Aisha Hinds is her costar, Tracie Thoms.
Hinds talked about this during a 2019 interview with Assignment X. And, according to Hinds, she and Thoms shared a history before they began playing a married couple on the popular FOX drama. Hinds plays paramedic Henrietta “Hen” Wilson in the series. Thoms plays Henrietta’s wife, Karen Wilson.
Hinds talked about her previous connection with Thoms after she was asked: “Did you know Tracie Thoms at all before you started playing a married couple on ‘9-1-1’?”
In short, the answer Hinds gave was “yes.” She then shared a few details during the interview about her relationship with Tracie Thoms.
“I certainly did,” Hinds said in response to the question of whether or not she knew Thomas before “9-1-1.”
Hinds also said that when Thoms went to a meeting to discuss her joining the series, she reached out to her friend to share the good news. Unsurprisingly, Hinds was very happy to have her old friend joining the drama’s cast.
“Tracie and I have been long-time friends, so the day that she had her meeting about it, she called and let me know that she was doing it, and I was like, ‘Ah, perfection!'” Hinds said during the interview.
‘9-1-1’ Star Aisha Hinds Said She ‘Was So Glad’ to Have Tracie Thoms on Set
Having someone she was familiar with join the cast as her wife helped Aisha Hinds better portray her character. The friendship Hinds already shared with Thoms helped her bring the marriage between Henrietta and Karen in “9-1-1” to life. As fans of the show are aware, Karen and Henrietta have a son named Henry.
“And so I was so glad when she showed up on Day 1, because we already had a beautiful chemistry and trust with one another to take on the relationship of Karen and Henrietta,” Hinds also explained.
Before she joined the cast of this show, she appeared in several major films and television series. Some of her film work included roles in such movies as “Godzilla: King of Monsters,” “Assault on Precinct 13,” “Mr. Brooks,” and “The Next Three Days.”
Her television appearances in roles in such series as “The Shield,” “Invasion,” “True Blood,” “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “Under the Dome,” “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” and “Underground.”
