‘Blue Bloods’ Star Bridget Moynahan Congratulates Co-Star on Winning Big at the Tony Awards

“Blue Bloods” star Bridget Moynahan sent a shoutout to her fellow castmate Lauren Patten for winning a Tony Award this weekend.

Patten, who plays Officer Rachel Witten on “Blue Bloods,” scored a Tony for “Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical” for her work in “Jagged Little Pill.”

Moynahan took to Instagram to congratulate Patten on her monumental achievement. She posted an adorable selfie of Patten in her police uniform for the show, captioning it, “Witten won a Tony!? What!?
Congratulations on your @thetonyawards win for @jaggedlittlepill!! @pattenlauren.”

Several TV and film stars aside from the “Blue Bloods” actress received Tony nominations for their stage performances. Tom Hiddleston, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Blair Underwood all received nominations for “Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play.” Laura Linney, best known for her leading role on “Ozarks,” was nominated alongside Audra McDonald and Mary-Louise Parker for “Actress in a Leading Role in a Play.”

We can’t wait to see Patten and Moynahan grace our screens again when “Blue Bloods’ returns in just five days. The new season will premiere on Friday, Oct. 1, at 10 p.m. EST on CBS.

‘Blue Bloods’ Premiere Features ‘Masterpiece’ Scene Thanks to Tom Selleck

Earlier this week, “Blue Bloods” star Vanessa Ray chatted with Pop Culture about the premiere episode of the new season. One of the scenes, which features co-star (and now Tony-Award-winner) Lauren Patten, received a lot of input from leading man Tom Selleck.

Ray and Patten work closely together on the show, as their two characters are partners. When Selleck read through the scenes those two had together, he made some suggestions to director Dave Barrett, who passed them on to the stars. But since Selleck was in the studio at the time, Ray and Patten asked him to read through the scene with them.

“He lovingly sat, read through the scene with us, gave us different ideas and different things,” Ray said. “Then Barrett was cool, and he let us go and stage the whole thing, block the whole scene without anybody else. So just the two of us got to do it. And then Tom was the one who edited that scene together. So I feel like this one scene in the first episode of Season 12 is like a masterpiece. It’s so fun.”

Ray also dropped in little tidbits about what to expect from the new season. “There are a lot of surprising things that happen in this first half of the season. Very surprising things. Shocking. And get your Kleenex out,” Ray said. “It’s good. This is a strong season so far.”

We can’t wait to see our favorite NYPD officers in action for ourselves this coming Friday.
