Just one year after his mom, Alma Wahlberg, passed away, “Blue Bloods” star Donnie Wahlberg took Instagram to share a special tribute to his family’s late matriarch.

Donnie Wahlberg opened up about his mom in the post by declaring, “The fact that the first anniversary of my mom Alma’s passing falls [on] Good Friday is not lost on me. I know where she is. I know whom she is with, and I am certain that she watches over me. Every moment. I hope you don’t feel sympathy for me. I couldn’t be more blessed. In fact, I’m the luckiest person on earth to have known my mom, Alma. I celebrate her today and always.”

Along with the sweet message, Donne Wahlberg also shared sweet snapshots of his mom through the years. Natalie Mendoza, who appeared as Lindsay Stewart in “Blue Bloods,” showed support for Donnie Wahlberg in the post by commenting, “Hey Brother, sending love and prayers to you and your family on this day. Your faith is beautiful and knowing you mention gives us all great comfort for those of us in a similar situation. A mother’s love can heal the world. I’m grateful for the Grace, love, and kindness your mother planted in you. It’s not lost on any of us.”

Meanwhile, Mark Wahlberg, Donnie Wahlberg’s brother, also paid tribute to their mom. He shared a family picture on his Instagram account with just a heart emoji.

Donnie Wahlberg Previously Spoke About His Mom’s Influence

Weeks after his mom’s passing, Donnie Wahlberg spoke to Entertainment Tonight about her influence on his wife. “It was in my mother and in my father, I rationalized the successes of New Kids. Because I did not do anything in my short 18 or 19 years to deserve such success. But they did a lot in their years.”

Donnie Wahlberg also praised his mom for doing so many things in her life. “Things that she would never talk about or brag about. That I really believe that my success was the universe and God’s way of paying her back. I always thought that it had nothing to do with me, that I was just a vessel to reward her for all the good that she brought into the world. I think she showed me and reminded me of that. It brings me tremendous gratitude.”

Donnie Wahlberg then revealed the last words his mom said to him, “You did a good job.”

Donnie Wahlberg previously spoke with People magazine about his mom’s determination as she battled her illness. “I know that so many of you have asked how my mom Alma is doing. During my visit, she didn’t remember much, and was often confused, but somehow she was still Alma. She still lights up a room. She still made me smile,” he wrote at the time. “She’s still stubborn. And she still loves her baby Donnie. I thank you all, for your well wishes.”
